A few weeks had passed since the starting of my school journey. I had friends, not many, but that's partly my fault. I was never the social butterfly. I wasn't shy, but I'm no Katie.
Speaking of Katie, she was actually pretty cool. She was super popular I came to find out, but she still made time for everyone. She didn't take her likability for granted.
Dave and I didn't exactly talk a lot. Recently I had asked him for help on a problem in math, but all I could focus on were his eyes. But he seemed to have all his focus on explaining a trig equation to me. Once he caught my eyes glancing into his, he asked me if I was evening listening.

My dumbass said no.

So yeah he didn't seem to reciprocate the same feelings I had felt for him.

Fast forward to today, I get the shot to redeem myself. We have a project in Science, and I decided to ask Dave to be my partner. To my avail, he said yes. Out of pity? I'll never know. The project was for the rest of the semester, so you could imagine how hard it was to contain my excitement. We had scheduled all next week to work on the project at his place. Let's just say I was counting days down.

Me, Katie and some of her friends decided to hit up the Comics Cafe near the school which was my favorite hang out spot because you guessed it, Dave and his friends chill there as well. Obviously much more frequent than us, for they go for the comics, we go for the coffee.

Another customer from our school that attends this cafe religiously was Chris. Chris D'Amico. Chris was the rich kid who's only real friend was a body guard. I felt bad that he had no friends cause he seemed pretty great. That's when I broke away from Katie's group who were talking about some wannabe vigilante "Kickass". I always believed the viral video of that man was a fake. If Kickass existed then he would literally just get his ass kicked on like his first day of existing as a superhero or whatever.

After escaping the debate on Kickass' existence with Katie and the girls, I went up to Chris.

Dave had already pulled the stunt of trying to talk with Chris here last month. But why not try again? As I approached Chris, I felt Mark, Todd and Daves eyes on me. I think they doubted that I could get in a three foot proximity of Chris due to his big bodyguard.

"Hey Chris. I'm Y/N! Nice to meet you, I've seen you around at school."

"Uhm, hey... Is this like a dare? Kind of random for someone like you to come up to me."

"Someone like me? And no, not a dare just wanted to see what you were up to."

I was confused what Chris meant by someone like me. Is he referring to the fact that I hang out with Katie?

"Never mind. I'm looking for the new edition of The Flash. If you want you can help me look?"

"Sure!" I wasn't as excited to look for the stupid comic as I appeared. But, I felt bad that Chris wasn't allowed to have friends.

Me and Chris looked for about two minutes when his Bodyguard found the comic and whisked Chris away. Well, my two minute friendship with Chris was short lived.

I retreated to the bar stools to my girl group, what the hell did I just do.
