Chapter 3

Chapter 3- First day

I opened my eyes as I woke up and for a minute didn't remember where I was. Then it all came back to me and I remembered I was staying-well living in Bella's house. I still couldn't get over it. Of all the places, it had to be Forks and of all the houses it had to be Bella's.

I got up went downstairs and had breakfast with my sister. She was a bit sad that she was too young to go to high school. You needed to be at least 12 to get in so she would have to wait a few years. Her and my brother were still excited to be starting school though.

We all got washed and changed super quick and were ready on time to leave. My parents took Evie and Danny of to school whilst I drove myself.

"Bye everyone, have a great first day!" I shouted to them as they left.

I then grabbed my bag and keys and got into my truck. It was just like in the film, I could believe it. I started up the engine and made my way to Forks High School.

After about a 10 minute drive I saw the school come into view. It was all just the same. I couldn't wait to start.

I arrived about 15 minutes before the rest of the school would. I parked by the office and made my way to reception. I walked up to the lady sitting behind the desk.

"Excuse me, I'm Layla Cullen and I'm new to the school,"

'Hello Layla, I am Mrs Lawrence, I have your timetable here and a map." She showed me where everything was and what lessons I had. She also gave me a slip which I was to get each teacher to sign.

"Thank you Mrs Lawrence," I said politely as I left.

"Your welcome dear, have a good day," she replied.

I went back to my truck and listened to some music whilst I waited for everyone else to arrive. I listened to my favourite songs 'A Thousand Years' by 'Christina Perri' the one from Twilight, Bella's lullaby also from Twilight and 'Human' by 'Christina Perri'. They were the best songs ever and I found the lullaby so relaxing. I liked 'Human' because it just made me think of Bella. Although I was excited to start school I was still so nervous. I was worried that as much as I wanted to fit in, I wouldn't.

I was awoken from my worries when there was a tap at the door. I looked up to see a petite girl with long brown hair smiling at me. I got out and turned to her.

"Hey, I'm Emily, you must be Layla the new girl," she said.

"Hello, yeah I'm Layla the new girl!" I said with a slightly nervous laugh. At least if I had a friend my day would be slightly less nerve wracking. Suddenly the bell went and I followed her inside. She introduced me to some of her friends quickly and I tried to remember their names. There was the blond haired girl called Madeleine with a friendly looking boy called Mike, and slightly quieter boy called Liam with another friendly bubbly girl called Lucy. They all said hi to me then we went to our first lessons.

I looked on my schedule and saw I had maths first in block 3. Looking around I saw a building with a large 3 on it. Ah that was easy to spot I thought myself. I hurried over there and found the right class. I walked up to the teacher in there and she signed my slip before assigning me a seat near the back. Luckily she didn't make me introduce myself, that's what I dreaded most.

Maths was fine and I checked to see what I had next. I had English then Break then Games, then art then lunch and finally biology. It has to end on my favourite subject right. I hate biology but I suppose I can't do anything about it. I picked up my stuff and made my way to block 7 for English. I didn't really like English and didn't like it any better after my teacher made me stand up and introduce myself. I stuttered through my little speech then hurried to my seat, tripping up on the way. I blushed a bright red and hoped the rest of the lesson would go quickly.

As soon as the bell went I grabbed my bag and left the room. I was relieved to see Emily and Maddie waiting for me.

"Hey Layla, how's your morning been so far?" Emily asked.

"It's been okay I suppose, though I didn't enjoy introducing myself in English," I answered honestly.

We chattered during break and they told me what we would be doing in games. I liked sport mainly but I suppose it really depended on what sport we were doing. It turned out this term we would be playing basketball. I didn't mind that but I couldn't shoot. The bell went again and me and Maddie made out way to the changing rooms. She was quite quiet like me and we walked in a comfortable silence. It was nice to have a friend like Emily, bubbly and quite loud, but it was also nice to have a quiet friend like Maddie. Luckily, as I hadn't gotten games kit yet I was allowed to sit out and watch today.

I didn't really watch though. I drifted of into my own Twilight world again and remembered Bella's first day. We were quite similar apart from the fact she hated sport and I didn't mind it. The noisy school bell pulled me back out of my twilight daydreams.

"Come on Layla, we don't want to be late for art!" called Emily as Maddie and I exited the changing rooms. Maddie had Maths now so she left me and Emily to go to Art.

"So what do you think of school so far?" She asked.

"Its okay I guess, I can live through it!" I replied. I went up to my Art teacher, Mr Grimshaw as we entered the room, and asked him to sign my slip. Thankfully he didn't make me introduce myself so I quickly sat down in the spare seat next to Emily.

Art went quite quickly as Emily's chatter continued throughout the lesson. Luckily she didn't seem to notice I wasn't fully paying attention. Soon it was the end the lesson and we met up with Maddie before making our way to the canteen. I followed them over to the table Lucy was already sat with a load of other people. I sat next to Maddie silently listening to everyone talking when I heard someone enter the canteen. I turned to see who it was for no particular reason and froze.

It was them.
