it was a sunny afternoon, the hallway was crammed with people going outside their classes to get lunch. a tall guy, with a sage green jacket, and a white t-shirt inside, paired with black jeans and white sneakers, went outside of his class, gaining a lot of people's attention. it was sung hanbin, the university's pride and joy as no one has spotted any flaw in him. he's handsome, well-built, smart, caring, gentle, thoughtful, and just full of surprising charms. he could get any girl, even guys, but he chose to focus on his studies since he was there because of a scholarship.

the hardworking hanbin strolled his way out of the campus as he organized the files in his hand until he met a group of friends. it was his best friend, matthew and jiwoong who were waiting for hanbin to come outside. they promised to meet after class to get lunch together at the cafeteria.

"what took you so long?" the guy with caramel brown locks said, it was matthew. he was a transfer student last year from canada and he chose to stay in korea until he graduated.

"did you receive another confession today? ai swear, that girl from linguistics major won't quit it." the other tall guy with black hair scoffed, pulling out a letter from inside his pocket.

"she's still coming for you? damn! such an eager person!" matthew exclaimed, his voice was too big and it was making all of the students nearby glance towards him.

hanbin noticed the stares that their giving so he dragged matthew away, followed by jiwoong towards the cafeteria. they took the tray and ate lunch together while chatting about many things.

after that, hanbin's phone rang. the ringtone alarmed the three of them. hanbin instantly picked it up to see his dad's name on the screen.

"hello? yea, I'm in college right now. what's wrong dad?" hanbin asked as matthew and jiwoong continued to eat their lunch.

until, hanbin stands up, making a shocked expression. both matthew and jiwoong looked at him in confusion. matthew tried to send an eye signal to hanbin to tell them what was wrong but hanbin was too busy listening to his dad.

"hm. hm. alright. i get it." hanbin's smile began to turn upside down.

"what's wrong? you seemed so surprised." jiwoong asked first after hanbin put his phone away, ending the call.

"god. it's my dad's company." hanbin sighed, his face full of worries.

"what's wrong with it? did the CEO die or what?" matthew asked.

"no, it's related to my dad's worker. my dad had a huge project this month and one of the workers made a fatal mistake. because of that, my dad had to take responsibility for it." hanbin explained while the other two listened.

"hm? what do you mean by taking responsibility?" matthew questioned again.

"he must be compensated in the form of money from his loss. right now, my family doesn't have that much money so it's a big issue since it's only my dad who has a job." hanbin explained, stroking his temple while his other hand is on his waist.

matthew and jiwoong said they wanted to help him with the money, but once they heard how much hanbin's dad needs, their mouths were opened and they apologized for not being able to help.

"you can take part-time jobs if you want," jiwoong suggested since he also works as a servant to help his parents pay off the tuition fee.

"i work part-time too in a shoe store but yeah, I don't really get paid a lot for it," matthew said, rubbing his head in frustration too.

"tell me that employee got fired." jiwoong said but hanbin shook his head. jiwoong immediately knows that he didn't.

"I mean, I can try to look for one." hanbin said, sitting down again to continue swallowing his lunch.

matthew then opened his phone, scrolling his social media to help hanbin find a part-time job.

after a few whiles of searching, they found nothing that could fit hanbin. hanbin was struggling with the time that he needs to give up since college is taking most of his time in his day. he wasn't able to spend more than 3 hours after college or else he'll be having health issues instead.

"damn dude, why did you take psychology anyway? and why did you join the college committee and then the theatre club?" jiwoong said out loud, making matthew more confused as he started to glare at hanbin.

"woah. okay, this is my first time hearing all of this and how did you fucking manage it?" he made a gesture of calming down and standing up again to look at hanbin straightly in the face.

"no wonder your mom kept on complaining to me. she said you're barely at home," matthew said, pushing hanbin lightly on his arm as jiwoong giggled.

"his mom complained to you?" jiwoong asked while laughing at both of them.

"guys please, I'm so lost right now and I want to help. I mean I can't really gather that much money right now, but at least I can pay my own tuition fee and food." hanbin begged as matthew and jiwoong glanced at each other, not being able to do anything too.

then, matthew's face lit up, and jiwoong immediately knew that the canadian had something on his mind, usually it was either something really brilliant or really stupid.

"how about opening a rent-a-boyfriend service?" matthew suggested. jiwoong's smile dropped, rubbing his own forehead in disappointment.

"why did I think you were gonna come up with something smart? you're seok matthew after all." jiwoong sighed, patting matthew on his shoulder.

"what? it is smart! listen, hanbin is fucking handsome and has been our college pride and joy. bro literally participates in everything and has become the target of every girl in this university! who doesn't want to go on a date with him or just breathe the same air as him?" matthew excitedly explained. jiwoong couldn't help but look away as he felt like he was too loud.

"woah, woah. calm down there. i am not good with this whole renting-a-boyfriend thingy. matt, c'mon, the only thing I'm good at is studying." hanbin said to matthew as jiwoong nodded in agreement.

"he sucks with girls." jiwoong said, chuckling a bit at hanbin.

"aw come on! you could turn an opportunity into a crisis!" matthew shouted.

"you mean a crisis into an opportunity..." jiwoong sighed once again looking at his dumb friend.

"maybe matthew is right. i am in no position to say no and to not try. i mean it couldn't be that bad, right?"
