"Where is she?" I called out to Luiza while she's sitting on the steps in front of the library.
I'm testing out the video feature on my camera, so it's ready for Luiza's recital in a few weeks. Since we started dating, I sometimes liked to tease her about dating me after she swore she never would.
"Valentina, stop." She's trying to seem annoyed, but her eyes are soft and her smile is wide.
"Only if you kiss me," I tease back. She can't stop smiling when she tells me no, and then she lets me kiss her anyway.
I already forgot that we're in front of the school library; I can't stop kissing her little face.
"I love you, you know?" I ask her while I'm putting my camera away.
"I know," she's pretending to be uninterested.
"Hey, say it back," I tell her with a frown.
Now she's acting like she can't hear me.
"Say it back!" I poke her belly which makes her laugh. "Say it back," I whisper with my forehead against hers.
"I love you." She gives me a peck on the lips. "I love you, I love you."
"That's better," I say against her lips before kissing her.
"Oh, shit, you weren't lying!" someone says laughing as they pass behind us.
"Told you!" I yell back, rolling my eyes and standing up.
Ever since I mentioned that Luiza and I are together, most people don't believe me. I try showing them pictures we've taken together, but they think I just photoshop them since I'm a photographer.
I've tried to get Luiza to tell them, but she thinks it's funny that they don't believe me and says it's a little bit of payback for my time teasing her. She never denies it if someone else asks her, but if I ask her in front of people if we're dating she just says, "are we? I can't remember."
So now, when people see us together kissing or holding hands, they realize that I actually am telling the truth.
Luiza is laughing when I help her stand up.
