“Rudraji….stop the damn car” Anvi practically jumped on the passenger seat. Rudra gave her a helpless look. He was on the wheel with Sita and Gola in the backseat. “Rudraji…..I will pee in the car if you do not pull over. I cannot hold this anymore.”

“Anvi…just five more minutes. We are on a highway. Where will you pee?” Rudra was trying to hide his frustration.

“Bhai there is an exit on your left in 500 meters and then a KFC at 200 meters from the exit point,” Sita instructed him, surveying the map on her phone.

As soon as Rudra parked his car in front of the KFC outlet, Anvi jumped out of the car and sprinted towards the outlet. She ignored Rudra’s warnings to be careful and just spirited as fast as her 6-mouth belly would allow.

“Was it this bad for you as well?” Rudra asked Sita. They were sitting at a table, waiting for Anvi.

“Not this bad.” Sita smiled. Gola was sitting on a chair beside Rudra munching on his fries. Rurda gave Sita an apologetic look. He realized how difficult it was for her to go through all this without any support. He felt his heart wench with guilt.

“It was actually way better. My Gola was a good boy from the very start” Sita placed her hand on Gola’s head. She smiled to prove her point. Gola for some reason was silent since Anvi announced her pregnancy. Rudra and Anvi were concerned but Sita dismissed it as a phase. They tried very hard to find out the cause of his sudden silence but all was in vain.

“And Gola will be the best brother for his sister as well. Isn’t it Gola?” Sita caressed Gola’s plum cheeks. But Gola remained silent. He bowed his head and his eyes held a weird emotion. As if he was scared and angry.

“Golu baccha..” Rudra called him, noticing the change in his behavior. “What is the matter, baccha? Won’t you tell your Mamu?” Rudra tried to coax him. Gola simply shook his head in a no. Rudra and Sita shared an alarmed look. Rudra immediately pulled Gola on his lap. He cupped his small face in his big hand.

“Mera Gola, tell me baccha, what is bothering you?” Rudra asked with a concerned look. Gola peeked at Rudra’s face once and lowered his head again. He whispered something. “Baby, can you repeat it for me?” Rudra asked politely.

“I don’t want a sister,” Gola said a bit louder. Relief washed over Sita’s face.

“So you want a brother?” Sita asked with a smile. To her shock, Gola shook his head in a no again. Sita looked confused.

“Why baby?” Rudra asked.

“Advit said, you will be her father. So you will not love me anymore. You will only love her” Gola's lower lips wobbled as he let out his biggest fear. It was eating him inside out for the last few months. Rudra sighed as he lifted Gola and made him sit on the table facing him.

“Baby, listen to me very carefully. This is a very important thing that you should remember all your life. Ok? Are you ready?” Rudra asked Gola in a serious tone. Gola nodded his head. Rudra had his undivided attention.

“Golu, We will have a baby very very soon. That baby will be your little sister……..or maybe brother” Rudra added the last part as Sita raised her eyebrows.”Mamu will always love you, Mamu will always protect you but it will be your responsibility to love and protect the baby. Can you do it for Mamu?” Rudra asked Gola. His eyes widened at Rudra’s request.

“But I am so small. How will I protect the baby?” Gola asked his mamu. His voice held deep concern.

“But you are going to be elder, stronger, and taller than the baby. So you will be able to do it. And I will always be there to help you.” Rudra said shrugging his shoulders.
