CW: GORE AND BLOOD
As I lay on the muddy ground, bleeding out, I could feel my strength fading away with every second that passed. And with it, my vision became hazier and hazier.
I watched with horror, I saw Finn raise his crossbow and aim it right at Meryl's heart. His face was twisted by pain, and I could tell that he didn't want to do what he was about to do. But that look in his eyes and the way he was holding his crossbow told me everything I needed to know.
As I lay on the ground, still and numb, my vision was suddenly filled with a blur of speed and a flash of motion. I could see someone or something moving towards Finn and tackling him to the ground with inhuman speed.
The crossbow fired off a single shot, but the shot was wasted as the weapon was aimed in the entirely wrong direction. I squinted my eyes and tried desperately to understand what was happening before me. It was as if everything had slowed down to a crawl, and my mind was struggling to keep up with what I was witnessing.
I saw some of the other vampires in the church step out into the night, their faces filled with shock. Some of them seemed confused by what had happened, while others looked horrified as they realized that Finn had tried to kill Meryl with the iron arrow.
Meryl gasped and held me close as she lay on the ground next to me, her eyes still filled with horror at the thought of what could have happened. I could hear her crying and whispering to me, but I could barely make out her words through the haze around me.
As my vision started to clear up, I saw that the blur of motion was in fact a person. They were standing up in the mud and the rain, holding Finn up by his hair and holding onto his iron crossbow. I watched in shock as I finally managed to make out their face.
It was Mr. Belmont.
He was standing above Finn like a mountain. His blonde hair and white shirt were still distinct and remarkable, but I didn't feel as shocked as I thought I would when I saw him. Instead, I felt my heart pounding in my chest and my body shaking with fear.
I could see the other vampires looking towards Mr. Belmont, as if he was the leader wolf of the pack. They looked terrified of him. Mr. Belmont was a vampire, but he was also my teacher at school. And what was he doing here?
We all watched in terror as he dragged Finn along the muddy ground towards the bushes outside of the church. As he did, I could hear the screams of pain and agony coming from Finn, his cries of terror and horror mingling with the sound of ripping flesh and blood. It was a horrible and terrible sound, and my own head was spinning and my vision going cloudy again. He had ended the fear and suffering.
As Mr. Belmont dragged Finn into the bushes, I couldn't watch anymore as the sounds of pain and struggle grew distant.
He then came out of the bushes, his eyes filled with darkness and his skin as pale as the white shirt he was wearing. The shirt was covered in blood, and I could see it dripping down his cheeks as he tilted his head back and licked his lips.
As I watched this gruesome and horrifying scene unfold in front of me, I felt myself shaking with fear and shock. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and I felt like I was going insane for even thinking that this was possible. But it was happening, and it was real.
Mr. Belmont looked at Meryl with a cold and calculating expression, and then he said, "I could smell the blood when I was coming home. If I hadn't come in time, you would have died for certain."
His words sent a chill down my spine, and I could see the fear and anguish on Meryl's face as she listened to his words. It was as if the horror that had unfolded was still playing out before us, and we were still in the middle of the nightmare.
I could feel my body giving out, and my vision was becoming more and more muddled. I heard the cries of pain coming from Meryl as she watched me slowly slide closer and closer to death.
But I could see the desperation in her eyes, and I knew that she would do anything to save me. So when she turned to me and said, "I don't have any other choice, Jason.", I had to agree with her. I couldn't even speak. I just mumbled.
"Quickly, Meryl! Before it's too late", Mr. Belmont said, his eyes dark and deadly.
I felt the strength leave my body as I closed my eyes and prepared for the end. The last thing I saw was Meryl and the others surround me. I could feel Meryl biting me all over, her teeth sinking into my flesh and pouring her blood into my veins. The pain was excruciating, and I was overwhelmed by the desperate hope that this might save my life.
But it was all in vain, and I felt my vision darken again as I slipped ever closer towards death despite the bite marks on my skin.
As I felt my consciousness slowly being pulled away from me, I heard Meryl screaming my name over and over again.
"Jason! Jason!"
It was as if her voice was calling to my soul and pleading for life to not leave me just yet.
But it was already too late, and the sound of her cries faded away into the darkness.
