The rain had stopped, but Itsuki could still hear the rhythmic pounding in the distance. His ears perked up and he turned in the direction of the noise. A group of officers wearing military-grade armor emerged from the bushes. A couple of them pointed their weapons at Itsuki and a couple of others started to step towards him.
Itsuki's ears were pressed flat against his head. He didn't know who these people were or where they came from. He was under the impression that the host club members were the only ones at the resort. Itsuki stepped away from the group. He was instantly overwhelmed by the number of people.
"Suspicious figure located. An uncollared feral hybrid." Itsuki didn't know who the man was talking to, and he was about to speak up when that same man continued. "Detain the hybrid and remove him from the premises."
"Wait-" Itsuki started to argue. His twins were here. Why would they remove him? He couldn't begin to explain because one of the soldiers grabbed his wrist, the injured one that he had been holding up against his chest. Itsuki's first reaction was to growl. He snapped his jaws at them and bared his teeth.
"The subject is resisting and showing signs of hostility. Restrain him," the man demanded. A group of four soldiers rushed towards him. Itsuki couldn't think rationally anymore. He was overwhelmed, and in pain, and he wanted nothing more than to go home with the twins. When the men began to grab him, he didn't think about his actions. Old memories of being manhandled by people who didn't care about his well-being flooded his mind.
"Agh! It bit me!"
"Muzzle him!"
Itsuki was no match for them. Within seconds, Itsuki was muzzled, and his hands were handcuffed behind him. The whole time, even with the restraints, he thrashed, yelled, and kicked at the soldiers.
"Don't touch me! Please don't touch me," Itsuki sobbed. One of them attached a thick red plastic leash and collar to his neck that was too tight to be comfortable. Itsuki fell to the floor and buried his face in his knees.
He couldn't stop thinking about all of the past owners he's had. There were ones who neglected him and eventually returned him to a hybrid shelter when they decided he was too much of a hassle, but there were others who were more forceful when it came to getting Itsuki to do what they wanted.
"Itsuki!" Haruhi and Mori were the next to emerge from the jungle. However, Itsuki was too deep into a spiral that he had shut everything out. Mori, who had been carrying Haruhi for a while, gently set her on the ground. Haruhi had stepped towards the hybrid, but the soldiers raised their weapons. They didn't point them at her. Instead, they were all aimed at Mori.
"Another suspicious figure has been located, and the target has been found!" They began to grab Haruhi now and tried to pull her away from the tallest host. "Take the target into custody, and detain the suspicious figure."
"Hey!" Haruhi shouted. The men continued to grab Haruhi, so Mori did what he thought was best, punched the officer, and sent him flying. One of his friends was already chained up and crying. He wasn't going to let them hurt Haruhi either.
"The suspect is resisting! Prepare to fire warning shots!"
"Takashi! Haru-chan! Outta the way!" Honey screamed as he swung down a vine into the clearing only to kick a soldier in the face.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing, pipsqueak!?" One of the men shouted. Honey only giggled sweetly before going after each of the armed men.
The whole time, Itsuki stayed hunched over in the same spot. Now that the soldiers were preoccupied with getting their ass kicked, Haruhi rushed over to him. She wasn't sure how to approach him at first. She sat down in front of him and watched him for a few seconds.
"Itsuki?" She called. "Are you alright?"
He wasn't responding. His face was still buried in his knees, and he was quietly hyperventilating. Haruhi softly touched his shin, and that snapped him out of his state. He lifted his head and snarled at her through the muzzle.
"It's okay, it's okay," she repeated. "I want to help you." Itsuki relaxed, and he slowly started to realize it was just Haruhi. He trusts her. Mori came up from behind her and kneeled down in order to not intimidate the hybrid.
Itsuki's breathing slowed, but the silent tears flowed freely.
"You guys should be more careful who you mess with. Picking on my friends is a no-no!" Honey shouted at the men who were all lying on the ground. The other three turned around to see what had happened.
"Woah," Haruhi whispered. Itsuki felt a little better seeing all of the men knocked down.
"Haruhi! Haruhi!" Tamaki came in shouting. "Are you alright?" He was followed closely by the twins and Kyoya who had taken his time in joining the group.
Tamaki ran straight to Haruhi and forced her into a hug that she didn't really want in the first place. The twins didn't waste a second. They pushed Tamaki out of the way to get to their hybrid.
"Oh, puppy," Hikaru and Kaoru cooed. Kaoru went straight to taking the muzzle off his face, and Hikaru looked around to where his hands were bound together. Itsuki began to whimper. His bottom lip trembled, and his ears remained flat against his head. Hikaru scoffed at the metal handcuffs.
"Hey! Get over here, and take this off of him!" Hikaru shouted at one of the more conscious soldiers. When the man didn't respond, Hikaru stomped over and pulled the handcuff keys from his belt loop. Kaoru threw the muzzle over his shoulder and cradled the hybrid's face.
After Haruhi was able to pinch Tamaki off of her, she knelt down on the floor again. "Is he okay?" She asked Kaoru. Itsuki didn't react. All he did was stare straight at the twin in front of him.
"He'll be okay. You'll be okay, Itsu," Kaoru said quickly. "We're so sorry you got separated from us. Are you hurt?" Kaoru started to check the hybrid's exposed skin. He was still wearing nothing but swimming trunks. Kaoru frowned at the cheap collar they had put around his neck. He stopped checking for injuries and started working on unbuckling that instead.
Hikaru hurried back to Itsuki and kneeled behind him. He grabbed Itsuki's wrist, and the hybrid was instantly knocked back into fight-or-flight mode. He threw himself forward but turned his upper body around to growl.
Hikaru flinched and then held his hands up. "Woah, it's just me, Pup. I'm not going to hurt you." Itsuki dropped the defensive expression from his face but continued to shield his wrists from him. Kaoru softly touched the hybrid's shoulders and then looked down at his wrists. It didn't take long to notice one of his wrists being slightly purple and swollen.
By now, all of the hosts were either on the floor with the hybrid or watching the scene from a slight distance. Even Kyoya was a little concerned about Itsuki, although he'd never admit it.
"You're hurt," Kaoru pointed out. Hikaru scooted closer slowly so as to not startle him again.
"He's hurt?" Hikaru repeated, sounding a little scared. He got closer to the hybrid again. Itsuki didn't react. He just watched. "I'll be careful, pup. You have to let me take the cuffs off of you. It'll feel better after. Okay?" Itsuki nodded slowly then turned around again. He leaned forward and pressed his face into Kaoru's neck.
He knew it was going to hurt again, so he was trying to comfort himself with a scent he loved. Hikaru did his best to take the cuffs off him without moving the hybrid around too much. Itsuki whimpered and dug himself further into Kaoru's neck.
