Josiah Davis
I walked into my house just to be face to face with Claudia. She had a frown on her face and her eyes were bloodshot.
"You hate me." She said in more of a statement than a question.
"What are you talking about?" I asked trying to avoid her intense stare. She followed me to my room.
"Don't act like that! Your father isn't here!" She yelled. I looked at her like she lost her mind.
"Inside voice por favor." I said trying my best to speak in her native language, she looked up with a smile on her face as she cried.
"Shut the fuck up. I'm so sick and tired of kissing your ass. Only for you to spit in my face. Josiah, your mother is gone. She's been gone for years. She wanted your father to move on and he did. Why can't you be like Jordan and forget about her already! Move on with your life." She said. I felt my blood boil.
"Shut the fuck up Claudia! I probably would've grown some more and realized I was wrong for treating you how I do. I don't respect you, cause you wanted my father even before my mom was in that coma. Those ten months were hell for us. You knew damn well my mother ain't want my dad to move on to your ugly ass. She wanted someone that would make things better. You quit being a nurse because you found someone you could live off of. My dad may have been dumb as fuck to trust your lies. But me and my mother knew about you." I said as I stepped up into her face.
"My momma told me about you." I said as I walked past her. She screamed and threw the lamp at a wall.
"You liar! Your mother told me that I should date your father because she saw the love he had for me in his eyes." She yelled. I knew she was lying. Cause I knew what my father's love looked like. When he loved someone he made time for them. He never had a day off of work since he married Claudia. My dad hid his real emotion. He was just being a good father and he didn't want to pay child support.
"Claudia, my mother knew what you were up to. My dad does to, but he doesn't know how to show his emotions unlike me. I let you know up front at the wedding that you'd never get the feeling of ever being accepted in this family by me." I said she looked down and began to bawl.
"Josiah, please." She begged. I rolled my eyes.
"Please give me your acceptance. I'm tired of kissing your ass. Can you please just treat me like at least the mother of your sister." She begged. I sighed. She was sad enough. I nodded she smiled and tried to get a hug out me. I slid to the right and she ended up hugging air.
"I apologize I hadn't known what things looked like in your point of view. But uh...when are you going to ask Trinity out?" She said. As she looked over at me. I looked at her like she was crazy.
***BEEP**BEEP***BEEP
I shot out of bed feeling relieved that it was just a dream. I got up checked my phone and the time. I noticed that I had a text message from Trinn telling me goodnight.
Babygirl 🍫😍💦: good night fuckboy.
I couldn't help the goofy smile that was on my face. Saturday was quite an adventure first Chas then the mall run. I smirked to myself. I picked out my uniform for the day. As much as I ain't fuck wit Margate uniforms it had a Nigga looking real fresh. It was the last day til break. I walked to the bathroom and took my shower, I wrapped the towel around my waist. When I was done I brushed my teeth. I looked at my waves and smirked. Them shits were swimming. I walked out and saw Claudia talking to my closed door.
"Josiah, I made breakfast if you want some." She said.
"Yeah, I want some." I said. She jumped and turned to look me in the face and nodded.
"Okay. I gotta get to work but I'll put it in the microwave for you she said. I nodded. As I walked into my room. I walked over to my boxer drawer and pulled on light blue boxers. I pulled on my khaki pants and my white polo and cocaines. I pulled my gold chain on and walked out with my backpack on. I grabbed my food and got Jasmine and her travel bag. I put her in her seat. I drove to her day care and dropped her off. When I pulled up to the school I saw all the girls wearing they plaid skirts and black dress shoes. When I saw Trinn wearing her skirt with her cocaines I laughed.
"That ain't ya dress code." I said she rolled her eyes.
"So." She said as she took the plate from me, she took the foil off and smiled.
"I'll pay you ten for this." She said. I fanned it off.
"I ain't eating that Claudia made it. It might kill me." I said. She laughed.
"Yeah she was gonna kill you with red velvet Oreo waffles." She said. My eyes popped out of my head.
"Lemme get a piece!" I asked. She shook her head.
"Uhh, nah you said Claudia cooked this and you don't want to die." She fought back. I sighed. And she smirked. She walked over to some picnic table and sat down and cut the waffle in half.
"Here fatty." She said as she handed me the plate. I smiled. And stuffed my face. As soon as we were done I picked up the trash and threw it away. The bell rang and I was walking with her to her first class. As we were walking Erika popped up.
"Hey, JD!" She said. I rolled my eyes. This bitch.
"I'm gone." Trinity said as she walked into her class. Erika clung onto my arm.
"Now, I know damn well you aren't trying to use her to make me feel bad about game night. Like if you're gonna do that you could've got a bitch that at least look better than me. I would've been jealous then." Erika said I pushed her off of me.
"Look I heard what you had said about me. And I don't want nothing to do with you. Plus you aren't that cute and your bang's uneven. Your house dusty." I said before walking to the Albert E. Science building. I walked to the little memorial bench and sat. I saw a security guard and tried to stay out of view but they had already seen me.
"Come out of there." The security said. I sighed and walked out to see the same one from game day. He smiled.
"Game day hero!" He said loudly. I laughed.
"You were so confident that morning but what the fuck happened first half?" He said. I shrugged.
"Your heart wasn't there yet huh?" He asked. The words sounded right. So I nodded.
"Yeah, something like that." I said.
"Well, proud of you boy! You better be ready for the spring game we playing a school out there in Louisiana." He said. I nodded
"Yeah, I'm going to be more than ready. How many guest tickets we supposed to be getting?" I asked. He shrugged.
"Last year it was what? About ten tickets per player. But knowing the the probably cut it some more." He said.
"Do babies have to get they own ticket?" I asked he nodded.
"Yup for the plane, the stadium they sit on laps." He said. I nodded.
"Escort me to class?" I asked. He smirked.
"I think that's the only reason you speak to me son." He chuckled as I shrugged. When I got in the class we were about to start presenting some essay we were supposed to write on being a teen and in love. I had mine down pat. Ain't even had to write shit down. It was all memory.
"Okay since last week Monday was cut short, me and Mr. Hardwick decided to combine our classes for presenting." She spoke I rose my hand ready to tell her we ain't have enough time.
"Hand down. Davis I guarantee I'm about to answer your question." She said annoyed. I shook my head telling her that she really wasn't going to answer my question. She sighed.
"Well I'll continue if I don't answer your question keep your hand up." She said. I nodded.
"Okay, Hardwick's class happens to be quite advanced. So if you don't get what they're talking about say something please. And we have an amazing amount of time. We have block schedule on this amazing uniform day." She said. My hand hit my desk creating a large bang. She smirked.
"Alright let's go to the auditorium. Mr. Herdwick's class is already there." She said. I got up and followed behind some girl with green hair. Shit was scary, she gave dark skin girls a bad name. Her hair was doo doo yellow and green, and she was wearing a skirt twelve sizes too small. I used to have a huge attraction to big girls, the ones who looked appropriate and dressed good, but she was the complete opposite. As we made it to the auditorium I looked all around then I looked on the stage and she was here. I couldn't help but smile at the ground then back up at her. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. Extra cute ass.
"Miss Carter you're first." I guess her teacher said. She nodded. And walked over to the microphone.
"Hello, I'm Trinity Carter." She said.
"We don't give a damn." The girl with the doodoo hair said.
"La'Dayshia Good, fifty-nine percent off your presentation grade." My teacher said. That put a smile on my face.
"My essay is nameless." She said.
"My first love may have never been the best. I fell to hard for a fraud. Never really caring. Looking past me to a near foe turned friend. Using my kindness and shyness as their strength. The words that spewed from the lips of my love were my kryptonite and my first love knew. I was weak, and grew weaker from the attention and constant actions of affection. But it was all an act. They wanted someone lighter, taller, prettier. They wanted confident Beyoncé but ended up getting a gorgeous but insecure Kelly. My first love was trash. He deserved me not. He loved me not. Today as I stand and hear my words. My first love, was no love but a lesson from humanity warning me not to trust everyone and when they say that they love me. He didn't and he said he loved me. My first love. My first love. Disappeared long before, he left to fight for me expressing his love for me the best was he could. My first love. Oh my first love..." She paused and sighed heavily. She was about to cry.
"My first love is dead." She said as she looked toward her shoes. I knew at that point where she accepted her father's death, this essay had double meaning and if they knew what it was they wouldn't be so confused. I started to clap.
"You killed yo nigga?" Doodoo weave asks. We all looked at her only stupid one that didn't get it.
"No, she's talking about the difference between her father's love and a teenage boys. " the teacher guy said. I guess figuring out.
"Thank you." She said with a smile as she jumped off the stage to a row all by herself. I hopped up and went to sit next to my best friend.
"I did it." She said with tears on brim of flowing. I smiled and gave her a hug.
"Great, you did great that took bravery." I said. She slapped my chest and rolled her eyes as she wiped them.
"Hush! I want to hear what you wrote about." She said. I smirked.
"I ain't write nothing." I said honestly. She gasped.
"You better pull that iPhone out and start." She said. I shook my head.
"Nah, it's cool it's all in the dome." I said. She rolled her eyes.
"I want to hear it." She said as she pushed me.
"Okay! Who wants to go next?" The man asked.
"I do!" Trinity said in a feminine ass deep voice as she pinched my arm making it rise ever so quickly.
"Come on up son." He said while squinting his eyes.
"Damn." I whispered. I stood up and looked down at Trinn who held her thumbs up.
I'm over here, wondering if what I was about to talk about was emotional as it should be.
Dedicated To.
