*first person pov*
"well....tell me what to do then captain." Legolas smiles, his blond hair glinting against the moonlight.
I grin, clicking my tongue. "you need to help me untie the boat against the docks, then it'll be smooth sailing from there."
Legolas nods and starts untying the ropes. "seems easy enough."
"only because I'm here." I jump into the boat, my hand already on the helm. "and besides, we're not going far enough for it to be difficult."
"aye aye then captain." Legolas finishes untying the second rope and hops in. He clasps his hands behind his back, watching me as I guide the boat along the waves. He walks along the boat, looking down on the water parting as we go on our way through.
His eyes were full of awe, the water somehow still reflecting on his eyes.
"it's amazing isn't it? How the water parts for us, welcoming us as if we were one of them." I walk up to him, now letting the boat glide across the waves.
"yes...I can see why your ancestors loved it now. It was welcoming, it might look harsh in hindsight, but when it welcomed you, it was showing you itself in all its glory." Legolas muttered, his head turned towards me.
I nod, resting my arm on the rails. "it's true. But to me, even when it was harsh and the storms was raging all against us, there was a certain peace to it. I don't know how to explain it- but it was human in a way."
Legolas raises his eyebrows, intrigued. "what do you mean?"
I stand up straighter, turning to the water. "like, I've been around humans for a hundred years, and one thing about them is they are protective. Sometimes I think they are far more emotional than us, in every aspect really. And while we do share the same qualities as them, you and I for example, theirs is....different." the side of my lips quirked up a little, looking over to legolas again.
"theirs is so painfully obvious, and they don't try to hide it. And honestly? I like that. I like how they are obvious about what they want and need. Obvious about their passions and desires. Sometimes I even find myself being influenced too. And I think the ocean is the same way. Maybe by there being storms, its the oceans way of protecting the habitants of the sea." I explained. It was true, I've always been an emotional person, but ever since I ran away it was more prominent. I'm glad for that.
"huh. I never thought about it that way." Legolas looks to the waters, his eyes casting a new perspective. "you know, more of your ancestors run in you rather than just your blood than you realize. I've heard about that thought you had before, my father said it was the natural way of how you Jaubians think of everything, always finding a certain poetry out of anything. Your people was always deemed as more emotional than most."
I smile, that note made me more happy and appreciative of my culture than legolas might realize. "you might be true on that. And I hope the future generations think of it the same way. In all honesty? I hope more of my people go sailing again. Just as our ancestors did a far long time ago."
Legolas puts his hand on top of mine, his skin warm against mine. "I pray in eru's name they will." He smiles and kisses the top of my head. "now," Legolas grins, cocking his head. "where are you taking me?"
"I can't tell you that can i?" I grin, swaying his hands. "it'll ruin the surprise!"
"alright alright, how about a clue?"
I raise an eyebrow, a playful smile on my face. "well.....there's ocean wildlife where we're going?"
"oh now that's not fair!" Legolas exclaims, a wide smile on his face. A smile so wide I swore I wanted to stay in that moment forever.
