"Could we just not?"
There came a glare from Echo, her mouth forming a tight line as she stood there with her hands on her hips, bound and determined to get her way.
And he was too tired to argue with her as it seemed all they ever did was argue. Or perhaps the right word was Echo always found something to nag about, something he needed to improve, while there was nothing she ever required to do.
But this—she was now trying to convince him that marrying, even though they 'd never been dating, never a couple, was a good idea, that it was, in fact, for some reason, his idea because, for some reason, her making the initial proposal as the female in the relationship was problematic.
"Why then did you do it in the first place?" he'd asked.
"But I didn't," she'd said as if it hadn't happened.
There was also, of course, the guilt trip.
The "Everyone is expecting us to," despite the fact Zeno was quite sure nobody thought they were actually dating, Echo's idea of them fitting the bill of the couple that always argued, when in reality it was always her nagging wasn't something everyone else thought.
And then—
"Urgent message!"
Zeno let out a sigh of relief, glad for once the alarm went off. Glad for once ...
He shouldn 't be glad for an emergency mission, yet it always got Echo off his back, and during the mission, she'd stop nagging.
