They were now just riding over the border of Nevada. Koda was almost home. A few times, they had to look back to see if Wally moved. He hadn't. He was as limp as a wet noodle. He was buckled up and slouched over with his fabric palms up. His feet barely touched the floor. But he could hear everything happening around him. It was like he was in an unpredictable coma. Like he could wake up at any moment.

Or not. It could just be Koda's ever growing paranoia.

Soon, they were stopped at a red light. When they had a chance, Koda's eyes raised to check on the puppet. But nothing happened. Then their eye thought they saw him twitch but then Wally just was limp again.

Koda was growing a bit uneasy. Like how was everything going their way? Why was it going so perfectly? Did something want them to do this? Or someone, in fact? It was weird to say the least.

.•°~-~°•.

Koda had stopped at a fast food joint and went through the drive thru. They just got spicy nuggets, sweet tea, and mozzarella sticks. A perfect meal in their eyes.

While they were parked in the parking lot, they kept their eyes on Wally. Did he really twitch like Koda thought or was it just their mind toying with the paranoid thoughts?

Then Wally blinked, his eyes started to move around. He lifted his head to Koda and gave a lazy smile.

"Where are we going, neighbor?" The puppet boy asked, as he slowly moved his head to look out the window.

When Koda heard his voice, they almost spat out their tea. He was seriously alive?! Now of all times?!?

"H-How.. the hell a-are you alive..?" Koda asked, their voice trembling with fear but a hint of fascination.

"Oh.. I don't know.." Wally shrugged, looking up to Koda from the back seat. His plush pompadour was stiff to his head, not moving smoothly like normal hair would.

"Wooo... okay.." Koda took a breath before putting the car in drive again. They had to get home. Maybe stress was making them see things? Or lack of good sleep?

"Where are we going, neighbor?" Wally asked again, swaying his feet like a little child would. Koda noticed how fidgety he was like he couldn't sit still.

"To my home." They answered, trying to not look panicked.

"Oh wonderful." Wally Darling smiled, as his big eyes looked out the window.

Why couldn't he have come with a parenting manual? He seemed so clueless about the modern world. Which was fair because he's been in a glass enclosure for who knows how long. How was Koda, a 24 year old with hardly any social skills, supposed to teach a living puppet boy from the 70's about the 21st century?

Well, they'd have to figure it out. This was going to be a long adventure that Koda wasn't ready for at all.
