Oh my God! I'm terribly sorry for the very laaaate update.
**Edmond didn't make the move to take Athena's hand resting on his torso. She looked peaceful, he mused and sighed. Okay, and too beautiful. She was the reason behind his change, his reputation of being a rake, from a sweet and genuine lad, to this. He can still remember the time when he told her his true feelings and she just literally ran away. Well, they technically grew up together because their manors are only three miles apart and their families were very close, it was only natural that they were to develop such tender feelings for each other.
Or so he thought. He blindly thought that she reciprocated his feelings. But seeing her fled, made his tender heart broke. When their families finally noticed why they weren't talking to each other, they just assumed it was nothing serious. But for him, it was all very, very serious. For a thirteen years old, atleast. But when you are about to leave for a very long time just to go to school, it was.
He assumed that Athena would make an appearance before he left, but she didn't, and as if he got the answer he was long in asking, he altered himself while he was in Eton. He taught himself to flirt with the opposite sex, how to please them to the extent of procrastinating with them. Several of them, in fact.
Athena moaned and slowly opened her eyes and realized she was on a different place and there is a warm, hard body she was totally hugging. She let her eyes and mind roam to the unfamiliar surroundings and the incident of last night came in to realization. The clubbing and eventually falling asleep beside Edmond. Edmond!
She was startled when her hazel eyes met his own dark expressive two orbs. His eyes were serious, yet tenderness was evident in those eyes of his.
He smiled. Showing the little dimples beside his mouth when he indeed smile. "Are you hungry?"
"No," she replied, almost a whisper. She can't break the eye contact between them and she almost shuddered when he took hold of her wrist resting on his stomach. It's as if her skin burned just by touching him.
"Alright. Then let us eat breakfast below stairs," he said while sitting up on the bed. As he was about to stand up, his stance became a little unbalanced. Thus, conscience dug into her senses. She immediately stood up to assist him. Thank God he was letting her help him and pride didn't take over.
"I'm sorry, Ed. I just didn't know it was you," she said apologetically while her mighty conscience still dug. Deep.
"It's alright. Don't worry over it. It's just a little bump on the head. Good thing you know how to club when you sense danger," he smiled and smirked at that. She didn't think it was funny though.
So they ventured out below stairs and asked Mr. Loney, the owner, what's available for breakfast. The slightly amiable man told them that boiled eggs and scones are readily available for them.
After they have eaten their breakfast at the inn's mini breakfast hall, they were informed by a scrawny young lad whose face was sprinkled with the lightest of freckles that their carriage is already and apologized that the information was delivered a tad bit late.
"Okay. Thank you, lad," Edward told the boy before he scampered off to the stables. He immediately looked at Athena and told her that they should be ready because only a few miles of travel is left before they reach the famous Bath.
