Luca immediately grabbed Luna when the empty vase was thrown towards her. The sound of it breaking echoed loudly,hurting their ears.
"Embarrassing the whole family! People started to question if the nude pictures were actually real! And now,you went around beating up innocent girls?"Luna's father keeps screaming and hurling objects towards her.But Luca protects her and accepted the punishment instead.
"Please leave.."Luna whishpered,sobbing with her whole body shivering in fear.
"I will not leave without you."Luca answered,remaining steadfast in his choice.
"I'm disappointed in you,my daughter."
Luna can hear the sound of her heart breaking. The thing that she fears the most is hearing it from the most important person in her life.
Luca grasped her quivering hands.He raised his gaze to her father.
"This is too much! Luna is hurt too; you can't put the blame only on her!" Luca blurted out,standing out for her.
"You,shut it! Don't interfere with our family matters. You are nobody in this house. Have you forgotten how you broke Luna's heart?"
"Papa!" Luna whimpered and started to cry,her entire body trembling with terror.While Luca is still holding Luna behind his back.He would never let Luna get hurt again.
"Now get out of my sight! Both of you!" He grabbed another thing, and Luna wasted no time. They ran out of the house before he could throw another thing and shove it into their faces.
"Oh my god, your father and his temper!"Luca groaned while panting.He punched the walls,furious,but even more frustrated because there's nothing he can do about it.
"It's my fault anyway.I should face my own consequences,not you."Luna let out a sigh and dried her tears.She holds up her swelling cheek.She gave Irene a slap on the other side of her cheek.That's karma for her.
Luca stares down at Luna.The road is dark and empty.He could still plainly see her face for some reason.It's like the moonlight is exactly on her head.Her face is shining bright,but she looks espe upset.Luca rubbed her other cheek,which is not swollen.She gave him a bewildered gaze.
"Let's go to my house and stay for the night."He suggested.Her jaw dropped upon hearing him.
"What?!"
"Let's sleep and forget about everything today.Ditch school tomorrow,and go somewhere tomorrow with me."Luca tightly grasped her hand,their fingers interlaced.Luna froze in confusion,her whole body going limp.
What is going on in his head exactly?
"Go where?"
"Somewhere,we should be."He pulled her to follow in his footsteps.And he brought her home without any nuisances or another yelling; all Luna received was a warm smile from his mother.
"I see you finally bring her here,son.Luna,come on in!"She welcomed her with a big hug.She didn't even bother to ask what's with Luna's face which is full of bruises and wounds.
"Can she stay for the night,mom?We kind of need a little help here."Luca scratched the back of his head with an awkward smile.Luna could see a glimpse of shock in her face before she nodded.Luca beams.
"I'll show you your room.Take a shower and rest.I'll bring you something to eat later."Luca pulled her hand towards the stairs.She was looking down the entire time.The taste of guilt is eating her up.She doesn't deserve this kindness.
After an hour,she took a light nap and finished her shower.She came out of the bathroom and looked at the nightgown on the bed.Did Luca put this here when she was in the shower?She pursed her lips in a gentle smile.He still cares about her a lot.
She was about to open the door before it was opened from the outside.It was Luca's mother,Lavender.
"Luna.How are you doing?"She carried a bowl of soup into the room.Hot soup.The odour entered her nostrils and shot straight through.
"Never feel better."She smiled.So sweet that it makes Lavender grinned wilder.
"Luca made this himself.He was too shy to give this to you himself,so he told me to bring it upstairs.He knew you'd be shy to go to the kitchen no matter how hungry you are."She explained the situation.Luna's face began to flush with heat.She must be red as death at this moment.
Stop being embarassing,Luna! She looked up at the clock on the walls.It's already past midnight,and Luca cooked for her? Why would he care about her so much?
"Can you call him to come up? I just want to have a little chit chat; nothing funny to try."Luna said it hesitantly. Lavender nodded and headed to the door.She turned to face Luna,grinning until her eyes narrowed.
"Eat well."She then closed the door.Luna looks down at the bowl of soup.Lavender is too sweet.Everybody in this house is too sweet.Luca is so lucky.She is lucky too,being able to know Luca even though they met again in this disgraceful situation.
"Hey." Luca came in.Luna smiled slightly in response.He sat next to her on the bed.As they both could feel their hearts beating faster,Luna faked a cough.
"You said you wanted to bring me somewhere tomorrow."She mentioned.
"Yeah. I can't tell you now."
She grimaced.
"Why?"
Luca shrugged his shoulders.He tilted his head,staring at her with a soft grin.
"Did you call me up just for that?"
He got her right there.Her cheeks blushed with extreme pink colours.She's not going to survive the night.
"Irene.Is she someone special to you?"She can't help but to ask.It's been wandering around her head since they met again.
"She is."
Her heart dropped.
"My best friend."He added up.She exhaled a sigh of relief as he finished.
"Is Jeremiah her boyfriend? They seem very fond of each other."She doesn't know why she's asking that.She just wants to talk to him,not wanting this to end.
"Hmm,he's not.But I know he has feelings for her.And obviously,she does too."Luca shook and nodded his head afterwards.He doesn't show any emotions on his face,though; she can't guess if he's okay with it or not.
"That's fascinating.They have feelings for each other,but they don't know."Luna cocked her head to the side,reading his face.
"I think they know.You know what,Luna?"His gaze lingered long in hers
"When something is so precious to you,you're so scared to hold it because you could end up losing it."Luca explained that his voice is so hard and deep.It's as if he were the one in that situation.
"I think they are like that."He grinned while nodding.Luna led with another small nod.
"Have you ever been in that position?You can't make decisions because you have to end up losing one of the options,but fear is taking control of your body."Luna looked up to him.Before he even opened his mouth,she somehow knew what he was going to say.
"Yes.Yes,I've been there."
Their eyes met for so long,they couldn't take it off.
"Do you regret it?" She can't stop asking. She just wants to know more and more about him.Maybe it's just her delusions,but she feels like he was talking about her.
"I deeply regretted my stupid decision."He answered with a serious face.They were silent for a few minutes.
"And you?"He questioned,but late.It was oblivious that he hesitated; she saw it right through him.
"I did."She looked down,avoiding his gaze.They went silent again,knowing that both of them were talking about each other.
