"Did you run here?" I ask Bandit.
They shake their head No and finally get their breath back.

"I didn't run here and I need to tell you something," Bandit said, walking past me and grabbing a glass and filling it with water.

"If you didn't run here then why were you out of breath?" I ask, looking at Bandit with a confused expression.

Bandit takes a sip out of the glass they filled with water before speaking.
"I was just using my power, so that means I'm a little out of breath."

"What power?" I wondered what they meant.

"I have the power to read minds. I was waiting for a while outside just to make sure that you're the right person to talk to about this," Bandit explained.

"Then why did you have to wait outside my house to make sure that you needed to talk to me?" I was genuinely confused about the situation.

"I should have said the I can "hear people's thoughts" the only time I can 'read' people's thoughts is if they're picturing it in their mind or like in your situation your ability is showing it through your mind which means I can see what you see when you look at the future," Bandit said.

That makes sense but how well does her ability work?
I said in my head to see her ability in action.

"Right now since I'm new to this power it's only about 100 ft radius around me and if I really want to I can concentrate and it's around 150 ft but if I want to find one person's thoughts, which takes a lot of stamina, it's only about 20 ft radius."

That's cool!
I think to myself.

"I just run out of stamina, but I'm working on it. Anyway let's get down to the main point here. I need to help you to decide whether to keep your power or not. Because according to my mom, who gets these prophets, I need to help you learn your ability before you do some big thing that can change the small world we live in, and by next year if you decide you don't want your power we can do the magic 'get rid of your power ritual' thingy," Bandit explains.
"So do you want to try and use your powers and let me teach you or not?" Bandit asked.

"YES!" I say without hesitation.

Bandit's POV
It's not like I didn't know she would say yes. I just thought that it would take more for Luna to agree.

"We'll start tomorrow, so I'll pick you up at around 7:00 ish. Does that work?"

"Yes!" Luna said and I could see the excitement in her eyes. It was probably the same look I had when my parents first started teaching me how to use my power, but soon enough she'll see the effect and not want it anymore.

I went to the door, opened it and then waved goodbye to Luna. I closed it behind me starting to walk home. Though it wasn't long before trouble was around the corner. Quite literally.

'Just take her off the streets and ask for ransom. Her parents will be able to pay it off quicker than anybody else'

Just how dumb is this kidnapper?

I stopped walking which caused him to turn the corner to look at me. Just some scrawny white kid. Dumbass.

"Look. All you need to do is stay quiet and listen to me," The kid said. By kid I should be saying teenager to early 20s maybe but with what he's trying to accomplish I should just call him a kid.

"And if I don't?" I looked at him before taking a few steps back.

"I'll just hurt yo-"

"Hey!"

"Ohhh, hey Luna," I said, turning around and looking at Luna. Luna the red head was helping me out. It makes sense but it's still weird.

"One moment mister kidnapper while I have a conversation with my cousin for a second," I turn to Luna and whisper scream the rest of the conversation.

"Why?!"

"Because I fell asleep for a few seconds and you ended up getting shot in the leg!" Luna whispered back.

"Now I'm happy you're here. Because I would rather talk to you rather than get shot!" I whisper shout at Luna.

I look behind me at the teenager and spot where his gun is. I look at him and then at the gun and back in between the two for a few seconds while he's looking at me confused. Before long he finally notices what I'm looking at and hides his gun thinking that'll reverse the fact that I already know it's there.

"So do we just walk away or?" Luna asks while looking at me.

"Maybe?" I turn toward the kidnapper.

"So can we go or?" I ask the kidnapper.

"No," he says before taking his gun and pointing it at Luna. A van pulls up and stops.

Shit. Time to run. The gun is not loaded anyway. It's, according to his thinking, the one that's not loaded because we haven't really tried anything yet. Before now that is.

I grab Luna's hand and make a run for it. Running directly at the teenager and moving to the side. He tries to grab Luna but I forcefully pull her making her speed up getting her out of the kidnapper's reach.

We continued running for a while before stopping and walking into an alleyway. Luna looked mesmerizingly at the alleyway. It was one of the cleaner ones which is why I spent time here to get away from my parents. I sat down on a couch in the back of the alleyway. It was somewhat dirty, but was still in good condition.

"Don't you have a home to go to?" I asked, looking at Luna.

"Yea, but no one's there so?" She looked at me with pleading eyes. "May I stay here?"

"Fine," I say, laying down on the couch and falling asleep almost instantly.

Luna's POV

Damn. They fell asleep.
I thought to myself. Before looking around.

No windows or lights on either side of the buildings surrounding us. I sat on the couch taking up a small percentage of it. Now it was time to fall asleep.

I closed my eyes and tried to calm down and sort through what had happened, but before long I fell asleep.
