As soon as Katya got home from work she could hear Trixie's beautiful singing voice filling the apartment along with the warm tone of her guitar.
"I don't wanna see you coming
And I don't wanna see you go
I just wanna see you blowing
Coming in through November snow and
Gotta make some sense in loving
Looking out for what's below
Gotta hear the train-a-coming
Gotta hear that whistle blow
Like ooh, ooh
And I don't have a broken heart
Ooh, ooh
And I don't have a broken heart"Katya took off her shoes and jacket carefully, not wanting to interrupt Trixie, or to pull her out of her current trance like state. It was almost as if Trixie went into a different reality when she worked on her songs, Katya had noticed, it was like she went into a bubble where only she and her music existed, where the goal of completing the song was the only thing that mattered.
"I've heard the curse is broken
From the taste of true love's lips
There is more to me than potion
Like a poison running thick and
Lovin' never was a story
Only guaranteed to end
And the more I push, the more she
Pushed back, and we start again
Like ooh, ooh
And I don't have a broken heart
Ooh, ooh
I don't have a broken heart" Trixie sang on, still not noticing Katya despite the woman now sitting down on the couch next to her."And I see the raptors winding
Back up around the bend
And I see the rope's untying
And the bridge comes caving in and
What's all the use in learning
When the breaking went to bend?
When you got your tables turning
When you take my heart again
Like ooh, ooh
And I don't have a broken heart
Ooh, ooh
And I don't have a broken heart""You know, one of these days it'll be an axe murderer and not me walking in that front door." Katya joked once Trixie had finished her song, knowing the girl was still completely unaware of her surroundings.
"Aah! Oh my god, Katya, you scared me!" Trixie screamed, her eyes abruptly both opening and widening as she realized she was no longer alone.
"Well, maybe you should be a bit more aware of your surroundings, babe." Katya teased.
"You could've warned me." Trixie argued with a cute pout.
"What's the fun in that?"
"I hate you."
"No, you don't." Katya replied before leaning in to kiss Trixie's pout away.
"Fine... I don't." Trixie said, her pout quickly being exchanged for a sweet smile.
"The song's beautiful by the way."
"Thank you... it's about you.. or well us." Trixie admitted shyly.
"Trix! That's adorable!" Katya exclaimed happily, pulling the girl in for another kiss. "I love it! Actually..."
"What?"
"I don't just love it..."
"What do you mean?" Trixie asked.
"Well... I don't know... I mean, remember when just saying I like you was enough? When it was all you wanted to hear? When it was all you wanted to say? When you got giddy just from trying to get the words out?" Katya said in a soft voice.
"Yeah? Where are you going with this?" Trixie asked nervously, a part of her already knowing the answer.
"I like you isn't enough for me anymore, Trix. It's not strong enough... big enough... I need more."
Trixie suddenly felt her nerves turn from bursts of excitement to a pool of sadness then, the words seeming like daggers and all happy thoughts escaping her as anxiety overcame her instead, but she still tried to joke her way through the pain.
"Katya, if this is some twisted way to break up with me then-"
"No! No, it's not that..." Katya interrupted, horrified at how she was apparently coming across. "Shit, I guess this really isn't coming out right. I'm just trying to say that... Damn it, why am I so nervous? I... I... I lo...I..."
"I love you too." Trixie interrupted with a small smile. "If that's what you were trying to say? Otherwise you can just ignore what I just said and we'll forget about the whole thing and act like it never happened. I fact, maybe we should just rewind this conversation right now-"
"No, I do. I mean... I love you." Katya said, breathing a sigh of relief once the words finally escaped her lips. "I love you, Trixie."
"I love you too, so, so much." Trixie said before capturing Katya's lips in a passionate kiss.
