"What fff are you doing?"
"Eesha what happened?" It hurt Maria to see her sister like that, half or blood.
She dropped all the items she was holding on the bed then rushed to meet Eesha. She draped her arms around her. Eesha was too broken to complain. The tears flowed. Maria rubbing her back made her feel worse. She thought about her whole life and it broke her.
This is not fair, this is not fair.
"Maria I did not do anything. It's not fair"
"Shh it's okay"
"It's not" Eesha was angry now. She tried to pull out of Maria's embrace but she only held her tighter. Eesha sobbed until she became weak.
"It will be okay" Maria said. She did not believe her but she let her lead her to the bed. It took Eesha a good time to recover while Maria arranged back everything she had scattered around.
"So it's not here"
"What?" Eesha's voice was croaky. Maria put her hands on her hips then cocked her head.
"I'm sure you have a clue"
To that Eesha laughed.
"The camera and all that stuff, were not there when I checked. Did you carry it?"
"I thought you carried it"
After a moment of considering, they said in unison "Mama"
Maria bit her lips, she was shaking. Eesha could tell her sister was curious, too curious to stay still just like her.
"Oya what do you want to-"
"Everything, I need to know everything" She sat on the bed. "From the beginning"
"Ha The beginning!" Eesha sighed and gazed into nothingness. Maria wanted to slap her head from the dramatics but she managed to keep her cool. "I got this scar from the fire that killed my parents. I do not know anything about them. Your mom adopted-"
"Uhmmm Eesha-"
"I'm getting to it, the only known relative I have is my crazy Aunty Teeyah De Tara, very crazy which makes me wonder why she's the person I went to when the drama began-"
And Eesha narrated everything, everything leaving out the part of using the money she saved to cook for James, making out and her blacking out- That embarrassed her to the core.
Maria's lips were pursed together her small eyes darted from left to right, left to right. Eesha laughed.
"I have so many questions"
"Me too"
"My mind is going to explode"
"Even my own"
But Maria was taking it relatively well.
"The picture, I thought it was strange"
"Yeah but it could just be a picture
"It would've remained just a picture if we didn't see that photograph"
"It could be a coincidence, might be some place, some where"
Maria went to the door and yanked it open. The painting of the cabin beamed at her.
"Does that look like just somewhere? It's the same description with the spirit world, Eesha stop denying that there is something to it. It's a mystery, it's a story"
"You have the creative mind. Fill in the plot holes and end the story"
"Why are you not interested?"
"Because I'm tired" And that was not a lie.
