Chapter 12
Aria
I stared at the message for a couple of seconds before replying to it, to him. 'What do you want? I thought I wasn't your friend.'
Holding my phone in one hand, I shoved the spoon on my other hand into the bucket of ice cream and took a large bite.
'Are you hurt?' He asked me.
I clenched my teeth on the cold ice cream and wrote back. 'Are you concerned?'
'Maybe I am.' The seconds turned into minutes before I finally saw the message appear on my screen.
'Let me post on the site.' I stated bluntly.
Sabrina and Nessa were confused as to why my post didn't go live earlier in the afternoon. I couldn't tell them why. It was plain embarrassing, especially after all the energy I was putting into it.
'You don't need to. It's unnecessary.' He responded.
I flicked my tongue inside my mouth and placed the tub of ice cream on the table. 'I want to. She deserves it after what she did to me.'
There was a short delay between the messages but he still replied. 'Fine. One post, to the point.'
I smiled to myself and copied what I had written earlier before adding it in the blank space on the site before posting it. The screen refreshed and the message appeared under the 'new posts'.
'Who's the handsome director?' Raven's message appeared on the top. I didn't believe that was his real time but I still went along with it.
'Dahlia's ex-boyfriend. She was apparently jealous because he was looking at me with interest. But it was nothing and even after I told her it was nothing, she still continued to post about me indirectly, and then my nudes popped up. They probably broke up after I confronted her,' I quickly wrote on my phone. The movie on the TV played but I didn't pay any attention to it. 'But I don't like Theo anyways. I just wrote that so she could feel more jealous.' I added.
'You play well.' It was an almost compliment.
'I do, don't I?' Another smile stretched over my face. 'But why are you messaging me? I thought we weren't friends.'
'We're not. You don't know me.' I wasn't sure if it was a warning or an indirect invitation, but it only intrigued me further. It was as if he was daring me to know him.
'It's not that hard to find who you might be. I mean, you do go to the same university, you must have resources and lots of knowledge to run a site like this, and the first time anyone heard about this site was three years ago, making you someone who's in the third or fourth year of some course,' I replied, sharing with him whatever I assumed. There was still only one person I could think of that added up to the equation. 'And now I know what you smell like.'
'You're smart, I'll give you that, but even then, you won't be able to know who I am.' He said, furthering my drive to unmask him.
'Is that a dare?' A smirk played across my lips as I typed my response.
There was a moment before his reply and I just wondered what was going in his mind. 'Consider it a dare but you'll be playing it alone. No one else involved.'
'Fine,' I didn't wait. 'What will I get if I find you?'
'Whatever you want.'
