Regulus froze. Was Sirius lying? "What?" Regulus whispered back.
Sirius continued to massage his shoulders. "His animagus form is a stag, and yours is obviously a cat. He has small cat paw prints across his chest," Sirius explained. Regulus was still trying to take in the information when James walked up to them.
"You guys okay? You're being weirdly quiet," James questioned. Regulus just shook had head. James was his soulmate?
"I just informed Regulus about a certain situation," Sirius explained. James didn't say anything for a second. Regulus was worried; what if James didn't like him?
"Oh, okay, um, I'll go talk to Remus," James' voice sounded sad. Regulus turned and caught eyes with James. They were slightly watery, and it made Regulus' chest contract.
"No," Regulus said before he could stop himself. James looked to him with hope in his eyes. "Uh, I mean, we should- we should probably talk, about this, you know?" Regulus looked away. He didn't realize Sirius' hands had slipped away from his shoulders.
"Uh, yeah, we probably should, shouldn't we?" James awkwardly answered. Regulus just grabbed James' wrist and led them away slightly.
They stood in silence, not making eye contact, for a few minutes. Regulus felt like his mind was going to explode with how much he was thinking.
"I like you, and I have for years. I'm actually very happy about what Sirius told me. I just don't know how to process it, and I'm scared you won't like me," Regulus blurted. He quickly covered his mouth, and turned away from James. Completely forgetting about the antler mark across his entire back, and forgetting just how visible it is.
He felt a gentle hand run across his mark. He shivered at the touch, not being able to stop it. "I like you too, Regulus. I have for a while. I'm really happy that you're my soulmate," James whispered. Regulus took a sharp breath when he felt James' breath fan across his neck. He felt James' hand travel from his back to his bicep then travel to his hand. He was gently turned around, and he stared up at James with wide eyes. "I think your brother might kill me for this, but can I?" James asked as he leaned closer to Regulus. Regulus could feel James' breath fanning across his lips. He gave James a small nod, and his lips were instantly attached to James'. He relaxed into the kiss. He let himself wrap his hands around James' neck. James' hands were on his hips, then his waist, then his chest, then his hair, and finally settled around his waist, pulling him closer, so their bodies were pressed against one another.
Regulus ended up pulling away from the kiss. He moved his head to James' neck. He whispered, "Siri is definitely going to kill you. You didn't end ask me on a date first."
James let out a small laugh. "Well, I can ask now. Would you, Regulus Black, come with me, James Potter, to Hogsmade, mm, tomorrow?" A smile broke out on Regulus' face.
"Yes!"
"Regulus, it's not that big of a deal. He won't care what you wear!" Remus, the saint he is, had come over to help lead Regulus to James, and also apparently, help Regulus get ready.
"What's he wearing? If I know that, I can base my outfit off of that!" Regulus was stressed. This was his first date, with someone he was interested in. He'd been on dates with pure bloods, but he didn't count those.
"I already told you, I don't know! You're impossible!" Remus threw himself into Regulus' bed.
"Fuck you, Remus. Can you pick out something he'll like?" Regulus practically begged, throwing the shirt he was looking at on the floor. Remus groaned from his spot on Regulus' bed.
