I woke up and quickly got ready. I threw on a maroon sweatshirt and some white skinny jeans with my silver platform wedges. I tossed my hair into a ponytail and put on some concealer and red lipstick with a pop of mascara.
I woke up Tyler and Olivia, who slowly got out of bed and went with in their pajamas. Love them anyway.
On the way we stopped to get coffee and as we were leaving I almost ran into Collin again.
"Well hey there." I laughed.
"It's you again, what was it? Colorado?" He grinned.
"Ha-ha you comedian," I pushed him lightly on the chest.
"Where are you ladies headed?" He asked, pulling out a cigarette for me.
"Pet store." Tyler yawned.
He did the same routine, placing it in my lips and lighting it. "Coffee and cigarettes." He smiled. I laughed.
"Well, I can help pick one out."
"I'd love that." I said, taking a puff.
We all walked to the pet store. It was huge! We looked at birds, too annoying. Cats, too furry. Dogs, too big. Lizards, eh. But a snake. Yes, a snake! We picked out a green, fair sized snake. It was worth the $90.
We walked back to the hotel. I turned around and faced Collin. "So..."
"I'll pick you up at 7. Wear something nice."
I smiled. "See you then."
I walked in and went up to my room.
Joanna screaming, I see she met the snake.
"We named it Marshall!" Tyler said.
Kenny laughed. "Mom! Chill."
Then breaking news came on the TV.
"Breaking News! Russia invades Germany and China. American troops set foot on land to fight Russian troops."
I turn off the TV. "Well, I have to go buy a dress for a date. Come on ladies." Joanna, Tyler, Mandy, and Olivia followed.
"Be good Ken!" We all shouted and left.
I went to the first dress shop. We looked through every dress, yet I couldn't find one. Then to the next shop, where we found a tight black dress with long lace sleeves. I picked out some black pumps to go with it, and I bought a golden chain choker. Nothing special.
Then, they took me to a salon to get my hair in soft curls, and they painted my nails black. We walked home, sipping on cheap tea from a small stand that was next to the salon.
By the time we got home, it was already six o clock. I started to get dressed, and I did a simple eyeliner wing with a smoked eye effect. I put on bright red lipstick and put my shoes on.
He knocked on my door, and I had Tyler answer.
"Is Kas here?"
"Alaska! He's here!"
I spritzed on some perfume and walked out to him. "Hello." I smiled.
He took my hand and we walked out. I got into his black challenger, and some old rock music was playing.
"So, what brings you to Panama?" He asks.
"The war. My whole school had to come here."
"That's terrible."
"Well, since I met you it's not so bad."
He grinned and took my hand and held it softly.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"I reserved a dinner for us." He said.
"Oh." I blushed.
He parked the car in front of this huge restaurant. We walked in.
"Reservations for Greene."
"Collin Greene?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Right this way."
The waitress walked us toward a table toward the back, which was right next to a fireplace and an aquarium. I looked at the menu.
I slowly ate my shrimp rice stew as he told me about how he got to Panama. I sipped on my wine.
"I was a lawyer, and I had to prosecute a man here in Panama. I lost the trial and didn't have the money to get back across the border. Of course, I have money now. But I loved the city too much to leave. I now work as a part time lawyer, but in my spare time I debate for businessmen who suck at their jobs."
I laughed softly. "That must be fun. You seem like such a successful man, why are you sitting here buying me dinner?"
"I wasn't successful until I met a girl like you." I blushed.
"How sweet of you."
"May I ask if you're by some chance taken?"
"No... I've never been committed before. Guys just use me for my body. They take advantage of me... And I let them. I hoped you wouldn't be like that. Which it seems you're the opposite."
"I would never do that I such a fantastic girl. It'd be impossible."
"Well, cheers to you." He grinned and took my hand.
"I'm glad you came today. I hope to do this again soon."
I smiled. "Thank you for such a great night."
We walked hand in hand out together, to run into the guys from the other day. I gulped.
"Hey sweet cheeks! It's you again! Come on baby give me a chance."
"Nice body," the older one licked his lips.
"Get in the car," Collin told me. I did as he said. "Can I help you guys?"
"We want your little girl toy."
"Not happening."
"Let's fight for her."
"Please, leave."
"Come on, pretty boy!"
He leaped at them, punching the old one straight in the face. He tried to pummel the others to the ground, but they pulled a knife to his neck. I jumped out of the car and screamed.
"Let go of him!"
"Get out of here." Collin choked.
"No, no Collin. You protected me and now it's my time to protect you.
I kicked the one man with the knife in the face, it stalled him because the knife skidded out of his hand. I ran and grabbed it. I stuck it in my bra, watching Collin quickly get up and punch the two guys in their faces. We both jumped in the car and sped off.
"Who were they?" I asked.
"They like to rape young girls and then call the police claiming it was someone they saw take a girl. It's fucked up."
I nodded. "Thank you." I whispered.
"I would do anything to protect you."
