Chapter 207 - "Daddy is lying. This is not money!" (2)

As opposed to her requirements for her future daughter-in-law, Gu MingLi didn't ask for much for grandchild. From her perspective, the mother of the child was not important. They would naturally be poised with her upbringing.

It was all very matter-of-fact for her and her words truthfully reflected her thought. "The child is not young anymore. Have you arranged for teachers for him? I recalled that you have foreign teacher teaching you English when you were just three years old. If you don't have one yet, I know someone..."

"Mom." Jiang MingYuan interjected. "I seem to have mentioned that I don't need you interfering with matters of my child."

Gu MingLi's look froze on her.

Of course she remembered it. It was the most insulting day that she had in her 30 years of being a mother! She called up that person immediately after Jiang MingYuan had left but he told her to wait.

Okay, fine, she would wait. She would think of it as doing that for all the years that they have missed...

Gu MingLi raised her chin, gulped, and suppressed the anger in her chest. She continued to reason with Jiang MingYuan calmly. "How can I not interfere? What do you know about raising a child? You are just like your father back then. He had no idea at the time either. All he would do was to take you places to have fun all day long."

"Even if I don't, XingXing still has his mother."

"His mother...." Gu MingLi almost slipped and said that his mother was nothing. Then, recalling their previous conflict, she held back the rest of her words. Lowering her brows, she reworded her idea, "His mother was as inexperienced as you."

Jiang MingYuan frowned slightly and looked like he was pondering. His reaction gave Gu MingLi hope.

Her and her son had been falling out a little and making her a laughingstock in front of others. She couldn't let that happen with her grandchild as well. She must bring him up properly and see what the others still have to say.

Jiang MingYuan pondered for a while and unfurrowed his brows. Looking at Gu MingLi, what he said to her was completely unexpected. "I have a shipping company in Country M that I have been too busy to take are of. I'd like to have Third Uncle go and manage that for me. What do you think?"

Gu MingLi was first baffled by him bringing up work all of a sudden but what he said pleased her.

Xudong and the others might have gone a little too far in trying to squeeze out her son back then. When her son returned, he had gotten everything taken care of. Gu MingLi felt bad having to watch Xudong, who had spent most of his life being busy, having nothing to do in recent years and had to worry about being revenged on on top of that. She was not happy when he was not happy.

Being able to leave the country would be great. Xudong hadn't do much lately because he worried that he would not be able to hack it. Now that her son had him manage a company, he would not only be able to get out of this environment and not have to worry but it would also serve as a new starting point for him. It would be the best of both worlds.

Besides...

Because of the conservative way of thinking, it was difficult for the two of them to meet up. That would no longer be a problem if they were in a different country.

The idea of the two of them would be able to see each other whenever or even live under the same room made her want to accept the opportunity for Xudong immediately. She tried for a while to suppress her elation and, nodded slightly, said she would ask him for his opinion on that. Once she was done talking, she no longer bothered with demonstrating anymore familial love and hurried out.

When the door to his office closed in front of him, Jiang MingYuan's eyes turned cold gradually.

His look scared XingXing. "Daddy?"

"It's fine." Jiang MingYuan patted his son on his back and, ignoring the documents on his desk, opened up to a webpage on his computer. He then said gently to his son, "Here, let's pick out a gift for Mommy. Which do you think look the best, dear?"
