Bells tolled as the murmuring of the crowd grew soft. All attendees turned to where the doors of the Great Sept opened. The guests were arranged in a circle, leaving the center of the room open for the main event. Around them the statues of the Seven stood looking down on the round table that had been converted into an altar. If one looked from above the crowd made the shape of the seven pointed star. But there was one aisle that led from the center to the doors where Princess Helaena stood, her arm hooked on her grandsire's as her father stood beside Queen Alicent by the steps of the dais. King Viserys was too weakened by his now obvious disease to make the walk down the aisle, therefore, he stood beside his good wife while his sons Aemond and Daeron stood behind him. The King's arm was in a sling, it was hard to tell against the black on black of his outfit but Maela could not see a hand, only a stump sticking out the end of the bandaging. Aegon stood on the altar beside the High Septon who would be performing the rite. He looked annoyed as he rolled his eyes and slouched. Meanwhile Alicent and Aemond were both glaring daggers at him. Maela was certain if the Queen was in a position to she would be scolding him in his ear to straighten up.

"She looks beautiful." Baela gasped beside her.

Maela felt tickled pink when Helaena was close enough to get a good look at her. Baela was right, she was stunning. She wore her mother's wedding dress, although alterations had been made to change the red detailing to green which suited Helaena much better. Her hair was piled on top of her head in curls all tucked behind an exquisite headpiece that made her look more like a Queen then a Princess. She wore a small smile on her face as she kept her eyes downcast. Only when she passed the Velaryon girls did Maela notice the tiny ladybug on the tip of her finger she was looking at.

Her grandsire brought her to the base of the steps where Aegon descended and stretched out his hand. Otto moved Helaena's arm to his and stepped back to stand beside the Queen. Behind Alicent Aemond looked like he was watching his sister walk to her execution instead of her wedding. Maela felt a tightening in her chest. If it had been anyone but Aegon maybe Aemond would have been able to be happy for his sister.
