Lying in bed, I flipped through news channels until one headline gripped me:
Breaking News: 5 Children Afflicted by Mysterious Brain Disease - Can Doctors Save Them?
Infuriated, I hurled the remote against the wall, shattering it. Those idiots thought my threats were a joke? Frustration surged, and I slammed my fist onto the bedside table, the pain inconsequential in the face of the unfolding crisis.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed with a notification - a message from Lennox, a picture attached. The text read: "Boss, we figured out the girl who killed Dante."
Opening the message, my jaw dropped. It was her, the girl I'd seen casually plucking dry leaves. Impossible, right? This had to be a dream. But no, reality hit hard.
I swiftly replied: "I'm on my way." Racing to the office, I found Lennox waiting. My disbelief poured out, "Are you kidding me? This has to be a joke!"
Lennox shook his head. "No boss, it's her."
"The girl from a few days ago, before we finished Willson?" I questioned, still grappling with the unexpected twist.
He nodded. "Exactly. She's the first to prove you wrong, boss. No one has ever done that." A teasing glint in his eye.
"Does her blonde friend have a connection too?" I pondered.
"I doubt it, boss. No footage of them together, and she seems too naive. Maybe it's a dark secret hidden from her," Lennox suggested confidently.
"But this girl proved you wrong. I'll mark it on the calendar—" he started teasing.
"Shut up and get me all the information about this unknown murderer," I snapped, irritated yet intrigued by the surprising turn of events.
