It was now Friday night and she found herself at Joe's with Cristina and some other interns.
Even though they had bought the book last Sunday nothing had actually changed between them. There were some innuendos from Dereks side but other than that nothing had happened.
She couldn't help but question if it had even happened, if it was all some kind of imagination inside of her head. She didn't know if she even wanted it to happen anymore, if she wanted to know if he could live up to expectations. She wasn't the type to chicken out of something but she also didn't want to ruin their friendship over something stupid like a promise. She didn't want him to feel obligated to prove his point, so she kind of avoided him over the last few days.
Maybe she should just talk to him and call it off, nothing had really happened so it wouldn't really change a thing, would it?
'Earth to Meredith' she heard Cristina say with a chuckle which brought her back to her seat at the bar. She grabbed her shot of tequila and shot it down her throat in one smooth motion.
'Sorry, I got a bit lost in thoughts' Meredith said.
'I could see that. What got your panties in a twist?' Cristina asked.
'I, uhm..' Before she could answer she saw Derek walk in with Mark in tow, they walked to the bar and ordered drinks for themselves. She watched him walk around like a hawk with eyes on the prey, her prey. She was glad he didn't seem to notice her.
'So, what happened between you two?' Christina asked amused, not missing the look on Meredith's face.
'Happened.. Nothing happened, what could have happened? There is nothing going to happen. Why would anything happen. He is just De-Derek.. and and.. I-I am just Meredith. And my point is nothing happened, or will happen or is happing. No.. nothing, zilch.' Meredith's ramble made Cristina burst out in a hysteric laughter.
'Nothing happening, huh?' she smirked knowingly.
'Yes, exactly. Nothing. I am going to go to the toilet.' Meredith had to get out of there.
Cristina could see right through her. She was never good at keeping secrets from her. Just like she wasn't good at keeping secrets from Derek, they could both see straight through her. And here she was again, thinking about Derek.
She was trying to avoid; she was good at avoiding. She needed to get him out of her mind. She had to find something to distract herself from the thoughts about his promise. She had to stop thinking about Dereks lips on hers, his tongue inside her mouth battling for dominance. His hands touching and groping her.. She needed to get rid of the feeling of longing in her body.
She walked into the bathroom and walked to the sink. Watching herself in the mirror above it, she could see how her cheeks and chest were flustered a rosy pink. Splashing some water on her face, she tried to cool herself down enough to return to Cristina. She took a few calming breaths and opened the door.
'Avoiding me, Mer?' there he stood right in front of her. His relaxed form leaning against the wall.
'Why would I avoid you? There is nothing to avoid, is there?' Meredith tried to rush past him in the small hallway. With a simple step to the left he was right in front of her, giving her no room to move past him.
He made a tsk-ing sound. 'And now you are even trying to run away from me..'
'I am not running, I am ... I am meeting with Cristina, she is waiting for me you know' Meredith let out just above a whisper.
'I think she can keep herself busy for a little while.´he replied taking a step forward, getting closer to her. 'Are you drunk, Mer?'
'No, I am not drunk..' she replied. He took another step closer to her, gently leading her into the wall behind them. He was close to her; she could feel the heat radiating from his body. He looked at her face, a small smile splaying his lips. Slowly, looking for any sign of permission, he put his hand behind her neck.
When she didn't withdrew, he breathed; 'Good, I wouldn't want our first kiss to be a drunken one.'
And then his lips were on her, ever so softly brushing over hers. She had expected it to be a hard kiss, a kiss where he wanted her to prove a point. But it was far from it, it was soft and gentle, almost featherly light. Waiting on her approval to deepen the kiss.
She felt her eyes getting heavy, closing them on instance. Here senses went into overdrive, all she could do was concentrate on the feeling of his lips against hers, his lips were intoxicating.
Slowly the burning turned her complete body on fire, she needed more. Wanting to be closer to him she grabbed his shirt in her fist and pulled him closer. She let out a small whimper, barely hearable but that was all he needed; he ran his tongue over her bottom lip coaxing her to open her mouth. His tongue sought entrance, dualing hers. Variating from small strokes do deep licks, his teeth lightly grazing her bottom lip, sucking on it. Mimicking what he could do with her clit.
The need for oxygen became urgent and slowly they separated. Opening their eyes, catching their breath trying to steady themselves, a small smile splayed on his lips. This kiss held a promise, a promise of so much more to come.
'That was one hell of a kiss woman. I could kiss you all night.' he smirked. 'But I do believe I heard you say something about meeting Cristina. Go, catch up with her, we will see each other later! Let's say tomorrow at 8..''
Giving her one last peck he turned around and walked back into the busyness of Joe's. Only for Meredith to let her head fall back into the wall.
'Fuck, I am screwed..' she whispered to herself.
