Rose POV~
I slowly woke up to a jolting motion and people talking as if they were panicking. I cracked my eyes open a bit and saw the hazy image of someone above me but I soon felt a little bile starting to come up my throat and started to turn over a bit to throw up before the person abruptly stopped and put me down. As soon as I hit the ground, I immediately began throwing up what I thought was the dinner I ate tonight or last night? I don't know what time it is. Last I remember was being in a cave with my friends and a bright light for some reason. I suddenly felt a hand on my back, starting to rub in circles as I felt my hair being held back. I turned around and saw Josh and Lucia behind me, looking as if they just saw a ghost. I looked around and saw that everyone had the same expression, but I soon saw Cassandra and Saffron on the ground unconscious.
"Are you okay?" Josh asked I was still trying to figure out what the heck just happened, so all I can manage is,
"I guess? What happened?" Everyone seemed as if they were trying to figure out an answer as we heard Cass starting to wake up, and Saffron slowly followed a few minutes later. They felt as if they were going to throw up as well, so Asher and Edgar helped Cass and Adam, and Jasper helped Saff. Once all three of us got it out of our system, we realized that the sun was barely rising and we were on the trail near the campsite. Once we were all fully aware of where we were, Cass repeated the question,
"So, what happened?"
"Well, after the bright light faded out, we saw you guys on the ground and when we tried to wake you up, you weren't responding, so we panicked and tried to get you guys back to the campsite for help." Edgar explained.
"Thanks for getting us this far." Saff answered as we all tried to process what he just said.
Why did that happen, and did anything else happen to us?
"Well, we might as well start heading back to camp." I said, trying to stand up but ending up stumbling back onto the floor. Josh and Jasper offered some support as I stood up again and saw Edgar and Lucia helping Cass walk and Adam and Micheal helping Saff walk.
We managed to make it to the campsite before everyone woke up and decided to head into our tents to take a nap before we started packing up to leave.
A few hours Later~
We woke up to the teachers saying to get out of the tents and get some breakfast. The three of us had a hard time getting off our sleeping bags without falling down before heading outside to meet with the rest of the group. We grabbed some of the eggs and cereal that the teachers offered as we headed to the picnic tables. Our friends saw us and scooted over to make some room. We were silent for a few minutes before Lucia decided to speak up,
"Are you guys feeling okay?" I shrugged and replied,
"A little better. At least we can walk without help now." Cass nodded, saying,
"Yeah, but I still have a headache."
"Well, hopefully, we can eat this without having to throw up." Saff added. We continued with breakfast, cracking some jokes here and there before the teachers told us to start cleaning up so we could pack up before the buses got here. So we went to throw away our trash before heading towards our tents to get our stuff. Once we were inside, I decided to discuss the elephant in the room.
"So, is it just me, or are you guys also worried about what could have happened to us last night?" I saw their movements slow as they thought about what happened before Saff turned around and said,
"Honestly, I don't know what to think about what could have happened. It just seems so surreal."
"Yeah, even though nothing physically happened to us, I'm worried that something is happening inside of us and we don't know." Cass continued.
"We should probably go to the doctor after we get back home." I said, hoping that it would help ease some of our worries. we all nodded before we heard Ms. Y call out from outside,
"Come on, kids, the buses are here! Hurry up, packing, and start getting on!" We hurried up getting our stuff before meeting with everyone else outside. Once the buses pulled up to the camp parking lot, we all got on board as we prepared for the drive back. About halfway through the trip, I went to grab my earbuds before noticing that something was glowing under my shirt. I pull it out and see it's a weird necklace. It has a black chain and a pink gem in the center that seems to be glowing. I turn to tell Cass about it, but she's asleep, so I turn to tell Saff, but they're asleep as well, so I decided to wait until we get back home to tell them. So I just relaxed and took a nap as well.
An hour later~
I woke up to someone shaking me saying that we were here, so I helped wake up Cass before we grabbed our stuff and exited the bus. As we waited outside for our parents to pick us up, I remembered what I was going to ask them,
"Hey guys, I noticed something on the ride back." They turned around, and we decided to huddle by the gate.
"What did you notice?" Cass asked.
"I noticed that this weird necklace appeared on my neck, and it seemed to be glowing. So I was wondering if you guys also had a necklace as well." They looked confused before looking down and seeing that they had similar necklaces around their necks. Cass had a silver chain with a purple gem in the center, and Saff's had a gold chain with a green gem in the center. They all were glowing but at a higher intensity than on the bus.
"What the.." Saff questioned as they tried to take it off to get a better look at it, but something seemed wrong when they started to panic.
"Uh guys.. I can't take it off." Me and Cass looked surprised before trying to take ours off as well, but seeing that there was no clasp to be found. It was like they were welded, so they can't be removed.
"What the fuck? What kind of necklaces are these?!" I shouted before quieting down and checking if anyone heard. We started to freak out a bit before I heard Josh yell,
"Rose! Your mom is here!" I freaked out before Cass calmed me down saying,
"Look, let's just calm down for today and let's meet up over the weekend at the library to see if we can find anything about it." I could tell that she was trying to seem okay but I could still see the panic in her eyes. She was just as scared as the rest of us. I took a breath and said,
"You're right. I'll see you guys this weekend, and maybe still get those doctors appointments just in case." We all agreed on a time to meet up before I headed to my mom's truck and hopping inside.
"Hey mom."
"Hola señorita, es un collar hermoso, ¿Cassandra te lo regaló? (Hello miss, that's a beautiful necklace, did Cassandra give you that?)" I saw that she was looking at the necklace and decided to go with it saying,
"Ah, sí, me lo dio de camino al camping. (Oh yeah, she gave it to me on the way to the campsite)" She nodded before going on about how we were going to pick up Skylar from the house, but I spaced out as I noticed something happening with the necklace.
The glowing light was flickering away the further we got from the school. Until it completely went out.
