~ Chapter 16 ~ : "Good Riddance."

*knock knock knock*

The knocks echoing the room again. Both Nina and I scared to even go near the door.

Suddenly, a faint sound of a familiar voice can be heard from right outside the door.

???: "Y/N, please open the door. I just wanna talk."

Our eyes widen as we both quickly turn our heads and look at each other in shock.
I start to panic a bit, not knowing if I should open the door or not, and if I do then.. what do I even say??

We pause for a minute.. another knock from the door echoing through the apartment again.

Nina looks at me, and gives me a nod, reassuring me that it's okay, and that I should just open the door.

I take a deep breath and hesitate a bit.. before finally going over to the door, and opening it slowly.

He stands there and looks at me, breathing a bit heavily as if he rushed to get here.. or maybe took the stairs if the elevators were down. Whatever the case, he's out of breath.. and all bruised up just as I left him.

Kai: "Y/N.. can we please just talk for a minute?"
He looks at me, aching for a reply.

I look back at Nina, as if I was waiting for her permission or response to this.. even though I knew I wasn't gonna get anything out of her.

I look back at him, and nod before moving to the side, letting him walk in.

He walks through the door, and scans the living room and kitchen with his eyes quickly.

Kai: "H-He isn't here with you, is he?? Did he bring you home?"

Y/N: "No.. he isn't. He left when I walked out of the bar."
I lie.

A small sigh of relief leaves his mouth as he rubs his forehead with his head.

Y/N: "Please.. take a seat, I'll get you some water."

Kai: "No need for that.. please, let's just talk first."
He says, sitting down on the couch, clearly desperate for some answers.

I look at Nina, and she heads to the kitchen, getting the glass of water for him instead.

I take a seat on the opposite couch, avoiding eye contact as I look down at the coffee table in front of us.

Kai finally breaks the silence, looking at me as he leans forward from the couch a bit, resting his elbows on his legs.

Kai: "Y/N.. what was that all about? Who was he? Do you know him?"

Y/N: "I.. I do.. yeah."
I say, hesitating a bit because I know the question he'll follow up with, and I myself.. won't know the answer to it.

Kai: "Who is he then? Is he your ex? Or.. someone else you're seeing?"

I freeze, genuinely not knowing how to respond to the question I was afraid of being asked.

Y/N: "No, he.. he's just someone, it's not important.."

Kai: "Not important..?"
He scoffs.

Kai: "Y/N, who ever that b*stard was, hit me. He beat me up, and I didn't even do anything. You gotta understand the position I'm in. I just wanna know what his deal was, what did I do that made him beat my a*s up??"
He says, genuinely confused and still processing what had happened at the bar tonight.
