I really regret going in the basement, I feel like ever since I met Alice I have done nothing but created problems for her...I for once want to be useful to her...
"Crusecross town is a land with rare minerals that's why many enchanters moved here. Everything was going fine at first but then....we were attacked by pillagers. There is a legend about pillagers that they were once villagers like us but were corrupted by some devilish curse. So during war, The king assigned all enchanters to use their enchanting powers to protect the town. I was still learning about enchantment at that time...and with the guidance of my mentor I made my first creation, Cooper the iron golem. Cooper played a big role in the war and We succeeded in protecting the town but many lives were lost. The king rewarded all enchanters" Alice explained
"that's incredible, your first creation was so powerful, your mentor must have been really proud of you" Lewis said
"hopefully he was" Alice said
"miss Alice...I don't understand one thing...why have you hidden Cooper in the basement?" Lewis asked
"I didn't want other enchanters to know that I still have him because after war those enchanters told me that I have made a violent and uncontrollable creature....and said I am still a beginner with less experience and what if this creature gets out of hand and I wouldn't be able to handle it and thus asked me to give Cooper to them but I refused immediately" Alice explained
"why did you turned them down?" Lewis asked
"my mentor advised me to stay away from them because they are selfish people , so I knew that if they got possession of this mighty creature they would just exploit it in some evil way" Alice said
"you made a wise choice...I admire how you kept his words in your mind...I'm curious about your mentor now? what kind of person was he?" Lewis asked
"Mr. Alvis was the most honourable person in the town. he was kind and his heart was made of gold. he was known for his vast knowledge in wizardry. I approached him because I was interested in enchantment and he took me in as his pupil without a second thought. he was just great..." Alice said
her eyes were glowing when she described him but her voice...her voice was holding back tears..
"...im afraid to ask but did something happened to him?" Lewis asked nervously
"he passed away" she said
I cant imagine to lose someone who I admire so much. she is really courageous
"I'm deeply sorry for your loss but your mentor would be really satisfied if he saw you now. I believe that he took you in because he saw potential in you" Lewis said to comfort Alice
"really...you think so?" Alice asked in unsure tone
"yes miss Alice" Lewis reassured Alice
"thanks for being so thoughtful" Alice said
then I saw a soft smile appear on her face...this is the first time I saw her smile. she is so deserving of this smile. she is almost finished with her glass of wine and she asks...
"do you have any other questions?"
"yes I do... but I should let you rest now...I have already drained your energy because of my mistake a while ago" Lewis says as he prepares to leave her room
"sure... but do you think you would be able to sleep without knowing the answers to those questions?" Alice asks in assertive tone
She is too familiar with me and my curiosity...
"I'm afraid not" Lewis said
"then ask away" Alice said while pouring more wine in the glass
"its about Cooper...has he ever attempted to...harm you in any way?" Lewis asks hesitantly
"he has never harmed me and never would...he has feelings and can understand some emotions better then us humans" Alice said in a confidant tone
"how does he have feelings?" Lewis asked
"poppy flower is a special ingredient I used for the creation of Cooper. I wanted him to have feelings so he can know the difference in right and wrong" Alice explained
"you used flowers to add feelings...that's quite impressive " Lewis appreciated Alice
"I have one last question...how old were you when you created Cooper?" Lewis asked
" I was 20 at that time" Alice replied
"you were so skilled and mature even at such a young age" Lewis said
I notice that she is tipsy and I should let her rest now...
"thanks for clearing my doubts miss Alice...you should rest now" Lewis said
"you should rest too" Alice said
I left the room and closed the door , I was just about to go to my room then I heard a loud THUD sound came from her room, my heart dropped, I hurried to opened the door and saw her passed out on the floor, my blood went cold...
"a-allice...ALICE" Lewis said with scared voice
I sat beside her and my mind was exploding but my body was frozen....then she mumbled something, I got closer to hear what she was saying but I couldn't understand...I took a deep sigh of relief...
"why did you drink so much when you cant handle it" Lewis said trying to wake her up
she is completely out I must lay her in bed...I carefully picked her from floor and laid her in bed and covered her with blanket then she murmured something...
"he would never....hurt....me" she said while sleeping
"yes he would never" Lewis said in gentle voice
I left her room and closed the door carefully and went downstairs to my room. while laying in bed ,I was thinking about how worried I was for her...I never want to see Alice hurt, I am alive right now because of her...I want to protect her and be strong for her...
strong enough to make her feel safe....
