The sound of the god forsaken alarm went off. I wanted to throw it across the room but I knew I had to get ready for work.

After getting dressed in a silk button up blouse and some suit pants, I left my hair in waves.

I walked to my kitchen and made coffee and a lunch for later.

I walked outside into the morning air and hailed a taxi.

I made it to the office and got my boss's desk in order. Then I went and sat at my own desk, near his door, and started on my own work.

After some time, I saw him cross the lobby. I stood up.

"Good morning Mr. Smith. I put the files you requested on your desk." I said and followed him into the office labeled 'Dean Smith- Director, Sales & Marketing'. "You have a two o'clock with Adler."

"Thank you Ms. Miller." he said with his usual smile.

"Let me know if you need anything." I said and went back to my desk.

At two, Adler walked up to my desk.

"Good afternoon sir." I said.

"How are you doing sweetheart?" he asked. He had a tendency to flirt with most of the female staff.

"I'm well. And you?" I asked.

"I'm fine. Busy around here." he said.

I smiled. "I understand that. Mr. Smith should be ready for you."

"Thank you." he said and went into Dean's office.

I continued to work for the rest of the day, paperwork, grabbing some stuff for Dean, helping people with things they don't understand.

It was finally five. I started to gather up all my stuff and Dean walked out of his office. He stopped at my desk and waited for me to finish grabbing my stuff.

"I hope I didn't put too much work on you today Ms. Miller." he said.

"Nothing I couldn't handle." I said. He held out his arm and I gladly took it.

We got in the elevator and he started checking his phone. The elevator dinged and we walked in. We looked over at the other occupant of the elevator, who was staring at us; he was wearing a short-sleeved shirt that said 'Sandover Bridge & Iron Inc. Tech Support'.

"Do I know you?" he asked.

"I don't think so." Dean said. I shook my head.

"I'm sorry, guys, you just look really familiar." he said.

"Save it for the health club, pal." Dean said. The elevator dinged again and Dean and I got out.

We walked outside and he turned to me. "Would you like some dinner?" he asked me.

"Mr. Smith..." I started but he cut me off.

"Dean." he said.

"Dean... I'm your assistant. We shouldn't do that." I said.

"Hey, it's just dinner. To thank you for all the work you have been doing for me." he said.

I hesitated. "Fine, just dinner."

"Alright. I know this place, ten minutes from here." he said.

The dinner was very nice. He drove me back to my apartment.

I was laughing so hard. "No way you did that. I heard the janitor was pissed."

"He was. You are the only person who knows now." he said.
