Maharaja Samudragupta has been waiting for this day his whole life. There were rumors all around the kingdom. People would say "It is all due to his bad deeds. Now the kingdom will be orphaned without a young Maharaja. He is cursed. That's why he couldn't father a child even though he had three wives. This is all karma." And today, he will answer them all. His answer is the execution of four men who he believed would have spread these rumors at the very moment the child is born.
Maharaja Samudragupta was a ruthless king who ruled the kingdom of Videha. A kingdom once known for wealth love and prosperity. That was long before when Videha was ruled by Samudragupta's father, Maharaja Anandagupta. But ever since Samudragupta came into power after killing his father and two of his elder brothers, the land has turned into a real hell. Samudragupta then remarried his brother's wife Maharani Priyamani and didn't even hesitate to kill her only son.
When her husband was killed, she was given two choices. The first was to get killed along with her husband. Second was to get married to Samudragupta. To save her life she had to marry him.
Today the Maharani was again going to give birth. She had been in labour pain for some time. She was surrounded by the best doctors in the kingdom.
The Maharaja was waiting outside with his other two wives. It was predicted by the palace guru that this child would lead not only kingdom, but the whole world. So the king wouldn't wait anymore for his son to be born.
It was time!!! He heard his baby's crying. "HE IS BORN. THE KING WHO LEADS THE WORLD IS BORN", The king roared. "Ministers execute all those bastards who told I will have no child. Before killing them tell them my SON is born, to take my legacy forward."
The Maharaja barged into the room. But the guards wouldn't let him in. "Who the hell are you to stop me. Get out of the way."
The terrified guards kneeled before him. "M...my lord forgive us. The doctors say, they need to check on the prince and the Maharani. They need a moment for that. So they asked me not to let anyone in."
"What? Now you take orders from the doctor and not me? I am going to kill your doctor first and then you."
The Maharani could hear the King "Please, please don't let him come inside. If finds out he will kill my baby again. Please help me."
"Your highness, we can't hold him for a long time. Anyway he will find this out. How can we hide the gender of the child." Said one of the doctors.
"You don't know. If he finds out you all will be killed with the baby."
"Aaaaghhhhhhhrrrrrrrr"
"You hear that?" Said the Maharani, "Those are the screams of the poor men the Raja is executing today. If he finds this out, you all will have the same fate."
In no time, the Maharaja barged into the room. "Where is my dear son? I can't wait anymore to see him."
Maharani took the child in her hands and covered her with a cloth. "Maharaja, see how cute is our son."
"I didn't give birth to him to be cute. He must be strong like his father. Strong enough to crush the entire world under his feet. Now let me take my son."
"I...I am sorry I didn't tell you this before, but I had made this offering to Lord Shiva, that I wouldn't let the father see the child for 3 weeks if a son is born. And see we have an amazing son. I think you..."
"And you didn't feel like telling this to me any sooner?"
"I...I thought I will tell you if a son is born." Maharani knew the Maharaja, a strong devotee of Lord Shiva wouldn't go against it."
"Three weeks isn't. I will do that." The disappointment was evident in his face. "Rani Gayathri and Devi make sure to take good care of the Maharani and the prince. And the ministers, let the whole kingdom know the happy news. Distribute sweets everywhere. It is the time to celebrate."
