Death Rides Through The Valley

As death follows through on billowing winds
Through the valley
Dead long before they had arrived
It seems life never lived
And yet
The dead never died
As war went on and raged
The living never stay so for long
And the dead weep their regrets
Death gathered the army
The souls of warriors long past
"We shall rise, and burn the living,
Like how light burns the damned"
And death raised from his spot
Kneeling in the field
They looked around and saw
The many dead
From wars new and ones so old even those who fought don't know the name
And proudly they rose
Armed with torches and pitchforks
Like how they did in story's of old
And marched onward
From village to village
To town to town
And city to city
To burn the living
And all they did
It seems the living joined those of long past
And with the rising sun
Flesh and rot, melted off the soul and bone
And crumpled to dust
With the rest of the war
The rest of the nation
The rest of the world
So that all the was left
Is you and the stench of death
That lingered far after the end of yours
