If you would've told Tsukasa a year ago, that he would be working in a kitchen under a fake name, infiltrating the Mage Guild, he would firstly ask how did you get into the castle.

Secondly, he would not believe you.

The scent of roasted beef and potatoes carried itself around the kitchen as the crown prince rethought his life choices.

Rui and Muni had, to say it lightly, very interesting food preferences.

It wasn't grand as one would expect.

It was fairly normal. So normal that their food choices made Tsukasa question why there even was an interview for the job.

For Muni, it would be a lot of...not so healthy stuff.

Sweet pies and cakes, fruit, and sometimes the additional mashed potatoes or rice with curry.

The curry always lacked meat, of course. Because, in Muni's words:

"A powerful witch like me doesn't need such minimal things as meat."

In Tsukasa's (and a bit of Rinku's) opinion, he doesn't even know how the woman survived without mean and vegetables for so long.

And don't get him started on Rui's food preferences.

The man, just like Muni, will refuse any kind of vegetables with a pouting face like a child. Tsukasa has tried multiple times to get them to eat at least a cucumber but nothing worked! He even put Rinku on the mission to feed the duo some vegetables!

Okay well, to be honest, Rui and Muni have put the tomato in their mouth, but as soon as Rinku turned around, they fed it to Nyochio.

...can cats even eat tomatoes?

Well, normal cat things probably don't apply to Nyochio anyways.

But, to say the least: The job had Tsukasa's braincells dying on the spot.

"Tsukasa-kun!" Rinku's voice brought him out of his thoughts.

The smaller blonde was dangling a bunch of green grapes in front of Tsukasa's face, a happy grin painting her face like always.

"I found these in the pantry! You seem down and sugar always helps!" She said, and Tsukasa took the grapes in his hands.

They were still a bit wet, small droplets of water covering each small bit of fruit.

He was glad that Rinku remembered to wash them this time.

"Thanks, Rinku." Tsukasa said, taking one of the circular fruits, and popping it into his mouth.

The grape was soft, with a little bit of crunch when he bit down. It was sweet as always.

Rinku sat down on the chair next to Tsukasa.

"I gave the food to them on my own, so you can rest." She said, her fingers tapping on her knee with a rhythm unknown to Tsukasa.

"You really didn't have to. I could've gone there." He hummed, popping another grape into his mouth.

He was grateful, he really was, but he didn't want to feel like he wasn't doing anything.

"It's nothing! You cooked the meat for Rui-kun anyways so it's the least I could do!" Rinku said with her usual grin.

Tsukasa has learned a lot of Rinku in this past week.

People have a strange affinity to like her a lot. She smiles a lot, and tries to find the positives in everything. She can become friends with anyone.

She also steals celery and peanut butter from the kitchen.

She said it's her snack, which Tsukasa has made no effort to retribute, because it's not like Rui and Muni were going to eat it anyways.

"Is something on your mind?" Rinku asked, bringing Tsukasa's attention back.

"Um...yes? I'm not sure." He sighed. It was not usual of him to be this quiet, so of course Rinku has noticed.

He started to become more comfortable around Rui, Muni and Rinku, so he could also be as dramatic as he wanted. As loud as he wanted.

"It's just that...we haven't really gotten anywhere with the investigation have we?" Tsukasa hummed.

Rinku glanced at him.

"We're getting closer I can feel it!-"

"Getting closer to what?" Another voice sounded from behind them.

Tsukasa yelped loudly in surprise, almost falling off his chair.

"Ah! Muni-chan!" Rinku grinned, turning to look at Muni.

Tsukasa took a few breaths to calm his heart.

"A warning would be nice, Muni!" Tsukasa exclaimed, pouting at the witch.

"Aaah you'll be alright, Torpe." She waved her hand in dismissal, her expression nonchalant.

"Anyways, we thought we would celebrate your first week here." Muni hummed, walking towards the cupboard and taking out a bottle of what seemed to be alcohol.

"It's been a week already?" Tsukasa asked, a bit bewildered. He stood up from the floor, brushing himself off.

"But I'm for it!" He grinned, crossing his arms in a confident manner.

"Same here!" Rinku exclaimed. "I'll go get some snacks!" She said, standing up immediately and rushing to the pantry.

Muni took out four small glasses, and gave them to Tsukasa. They walked towards Muni's and Rui's office, Nyochio following behind the girl.

As they entered the office, he saw Rui sitting on the table with a few trinkets in his lap.

"Hello, Torpe." Rui hummed, not looking away from the mechanical parts in his hands.

"Or maybe Tsukasa... whichever you prefer." He said right after, and that made Tsukasa freeze.

Of course he found out. If course they found out, it was likely from the start. He at least hoped that they would give him a few more days or weeks or chapt--

Tsukasa sighed, putting the glasses down.

"Could've at least made it more dramatic..."

"That's what I said!" Muni exclaimed, sitting down on her chair, Nyochio jumping into her lap.

"How'd you find out?" Tsukasa asked, looking up at Rui.

"It was very obvious, let's be honest~" Rui chuckled, putting the parts down.

"For your information, I am an excellent actor!" Tsukasa said with a pout, sitting down at a free chair with a stubbornness only Tsukasa Tenma could muster up.

"I'm sure you are. Perhaps, if you had more time, you would've succeeded!" Rui laughed, opening the bottle.

Rinku burst into the room with some snacks in her arms.
