Chapter 8 - The Bard Returns

October 2007

"Is that really you Dustin?"  Mike said.  "Yeah Mike, it's me."  The two hugged as it's been years since they seen each other.  Dustin turned to Will "Byers, come here."  Dustin hugged Will.  "I haven't seen you since 85'.  How are you doing?  You look good, really good."  Will turned red as Mike and Dustin started laughing.  "I'm doing well.  I've been living in Chicago for a while now."  Will said.  Mike spoke up "yeah, Will and I run my book and music store together now.  He sold his business and now he works for me."  Will had other things going on besides Paladin's Books and Music.  Mike always liked speaking for Will and won't stop him now.

"What business did you own Will?  Believe it or not I own my own business also.  It is called Henderson Radio and Communications Shop.  I mostly sell and repair two-way and emergency radio sets and dabble with ham sets.  With all the emergency response teams and law enforcement presence I'm busy setting up and maintaining base stations and other items.  Sorry, I tend to ramble on."  Mike and Will laughed.  "Yeah, Will made these cool bags but sold the business a couple years ago."  Mike showed the custom made bag to Dustin.  The yellow factory tag was visible on the outside of the bag.  It was a charcoal and black game satchel with a sewn Paladin on the outer flap that looked very much like Mike with M.W.- Paladin sewn in gold string directly beneath the Paladin.  The outer compartment had foam holders for a Walkman and a set of headphones.  The inner compartment had a net bag for dice and other small game objects while the inside could hold books and/or a board game inside.  Mike loved the bag and brought it to each campaign.

"Ok, it's like mine."  Dustin showed his satchel which was similar but made from two-tone brown cloth.  "I love this bag.  I also use it to haul supercoms because it works for that also.  I should of known you would come up with something like this."  Will told the two about his humble beginnings at the Bag Factory.

The campaign went well, so well in fact that the group defeated the big bad.  In fact now it's Mike's turn to DM next week since this campaign ended early.  Mike, Dustin and Mike exchanged phone numbers and business cards.  They will get together Sunday morning at Dustin's place to talk.

It was Sunday morning early at 5:30 when Will was awoken.  He had a message from Miles.  Miles caught his wife having an affair with another man in their New York City penthouse Condo.  Miles came back impromptu to the penthouse from the Manor and caught his wife Claire having sex with another man.  They were so wrapped up with each other they didn't know Miles was there.  Miles quietly left the apartment since the person she was having an affair with was her cousin from France, Jean-Paul Vendryes.  He was a playboy and leech on Bestrom et Compagnie, which is Claire's family Corporation.  His Mom was a sister to Claire's Dad so he got a yearly  payment for life from the company.  Miles needed to keep quiet for a couple more years until he can get control of the industrial assets of Bestrom et Compagnie, then he can divorce Claire and get custody of the children. 

"Will, she is cheating on me.  The gross part is she is with her cousin.  I can't trust a woman like that."

"The answer is simple Miles, just divorce her.  She clearly doesn't care for your marriage."  Miles cut Will off "I can't Will.  I have to plan this separation carefully so I can get the kids and protect the Estate.  It isn't like the commoners who can split willy-nilly."  Will had to listen to Miles go on about Claire and his life for 30 minutes before the connection was too much and needed to be cut.  Will had to comfort Miles while Miles vented.  It was after 6 and Will was wide awake.  He decided to paint since he never gets time to paint normally.  He had a canvas ready to go, so he mixed up his paints.  He was glad he had his own place even though Mike wanted him to live with him.  It would be awkward living with Mike if Mike brought home his boyfriend of the month.
