Ashton sat down next to me, a concerned look on his face.

"Are you okay?"

I placed my phone down. I bit my lips.

"N-no," I replied softly, trying not to cry again.

"Why?"

The tears started flowing again. Crybaby award goes to me, I will take it very proudly.

"Sorry. If you don't want to talk about it it's fine. Am I bothering you? Should I leave? I can go-"

"No, please. Stay. I will tell you everything," I said to him. I breathed in deeply, and told him the full story, trying my best not to look more of a ugly monster than I already am.

"...It's tiring being at the bottom every single time, you know?" I told him.

Ashton was listening very attentively to me while I ranted about my unhappiness. He nodded and placed his left arm over my shoulder and carefully rubbed against it.

Ashton cares about me.

"I am definitely not good at advice or consoling anyone, but what I know is that everything will be ok. From what you've told me, I know that you work extremely hard. And I don't get why nobody recognises that. But you need to listen to me. I recognise it. I care. Don't you ever give up, understand?"

I smiled, and mouthed a "thank you".

That was the first time anyone has said anything like that to me.

Ashton continued rubbing his fingers against the side of my arm,  while I slowly relax and lean on him.

Best worst day of my life.
