Life is all about learning to survive in this world. People live a fast pace life not knowing the wonders of this very earth. Waking up, driving around on the roads they know very little about and their day goes fast, but a runner sees the world very differently.
Let me take you on a journey of adventure, lessons of life and most of all the journeys of runners. After reading this book some will feel the need to put on running shoes and some won't even dare to do.
Running is a preparation and a guidance in life. It prepares you for the challenges of life and how to deal with them. Anyone who runs knows the patient's, the sacrifices and the pain that comes along with it. Sounds a lot like life am I right?
Like life, running is cruel in terms of the pain in your legs but it's also beautiful in terms of the scenery, the places one run in, and the fresh air flowing through your body. When one runs marathons the first thing that goes through your mind is how and when to get to the finish. The road feels long and endless. The amount of patience one must have and the main purpose of a Marathon is to see if you can survive it. Not to give up or to give in, to try to reach your destination despite the obstacles in your path. It deos not matter the position you finish but how you finish. The strongest runner is not the runner that comes first but the runner that comes last and finish strong.
Crossing the finish line alone is the best feeling ever and a great achievement in life. Why? Because life alone is a Marathon. It's the biggest race ever and we are all runners trying to get to the finish line.
For most runners including myself, running saved our lifes. It gave us a reason to live, to move on, to keep pushing forward and it is our greatest tool in life.
It helps us get through our day to day routine. Keeps us calm in the worse of times. It gives us peace and tranquility. It also gives us the skill of communicating and interacting with others.
Because of runining your view of the world changes completely. For example when you running in a road you have the time to observe every little detail taking place in that road and you will see things in that very road you have never seen before. The day you drive down that very road with a car, the memory of running down that road seeing things you will only see when you run. Thinking back on how hard you were training down that road and the memory of that road will ways come back into your mind each time you drive on it.
Can you imagine that running makes you connect with a road and also makes you appreciate it more. But there is much more to running than this. What makes a runner special is the story of there running journey. Now allow me to tell you mine.
