Chapter 40

This happened sooner than I would've liked it but writers block

She has been in the hospital for 3 days.

I knew sqaishey was complaining about some pain the day after we went ice skating. I just figured she fell or something.

When I woke up to se her passed out in the kitchen with a blood pooling at the floor.

THAT WAS TERRIFYING!

About an hour later I knew.

Sqaishey cut.
Sqaishey was depressed.
Sqaishey bruised her tailbone.
Sqaishey miscarried our child.

Everything added up. She showed all signs and still nobody noticed. I didn't even notice.

The one who was able to know a complete stranger was pregnant and yet she didn't even know herselfl

You don't know heartbroken until you know that your girlfriend is sick, and the child you didn't even know about is gone...

Squid and Nicole have been over a few times since the accident. They tried to calm me down and cheer me up. None of it really worked.

Just seeing how happy my best friends are when my world is crashing down.

Nicole's even started to show. Only a little, but it still reminds me of what sqaishey and I could've had.

All I've been able to do is sleep the terrible nightmare of finding sqaishey like that, or sulk.

Today is the day I will go to the hospital. Finally see sqaishey for the first time since I found her.

The drive was longer than it should've felt. I've begun to get a bit antsy.

I look like a wreck.

I slowly trudges to the hospital doors. The receptionist gave me her room and I literally cannot control my shaking.

It's gotten to the point where I accidentally pressed the wrong button in the elevator.

A whole ride later and I've made it to her floor. Room 412 on the left.

There she was. My sqaishey lying limp in the metal bed. My shaking turned to tears. I wouldn't even try to control myself. She gave me a weak smile

"What happened back then."

Her wavering raspy voice was enough to to set me off the edge.

"I can't believe I did this too you. That night at David's where you couldn't control yourself. You asked for it. And I went along with it anyways."

I wiped the tears falling from my eyes and sat on the wooden chair sitting in the corner of her room.

"The puking, the tiredness, and the mood swings. We didn't even see it.
Well until of was too late..."

I gave her a watery smile.

"Sqaishey."

Her watery eyes met mine.

"Why didn't you tell me."

A single tear dripped down her pale face. Her lip started to tremble as she spoke.

"My dad is gone. I don't trust my mom alone. And pregnant people tend to get emotional. "

The giggle at the end of her sentence brightened my whole day.

"Im sorry for anything I've put you through this month. My mom will be back next week. I can leave if you want. Get all this stupid drama out of your life."

No.

She can't possibly be serious.

I got up from my perch in the corner of the room and sat down on the edge of her bed.

"But sqaishey I love you. We almost had a chance at a child. We've lived in the same house for a month, and..."

My own tears started to fall once more. I engulfed her fragile frame into a giant hug.

"-and I wouldn't be able to let you go."

I sat there with her in my loving embrace giving each other loving words until a nurse forced me to leave.
