Zoe's POV.
"You see that was the truth," said Jessika. I looked at her as if we were in the present time talking about what her ancestors went through. It was Lisette who did this. I couldn't bear to think what monsters we had to be. I never knew that from our history at all. We just always thank Lisette and the Volcano of Dragon Fire. "Do you know about dragon fire?" I asked.
Jessika looked at me confused. "What's that?" she asked. "No ancestor mentioned the volcano and the dragon fire?" I asked. She shook her head. "That was everything I know about you guys and your history," said Jessika. I nodded my head thinking it over. Nobody still knows about the mates. They aren't linked anywhere near Lisette. It was like I was relearning history.
Saphira and Riven taught me Lisette and now I'm learning that dragon shifters must have been the real problem. I thought I already knew my history. I lost both my parents and they never taught me this. I wonder what they would think now if they heard about this. Then I remembered I lost Ryker and the copper blade went through Ryker's chest. "The weapon was what killed Ryker," I said as my hands went into fists. I remember I had to leave it in him since it hurt me to touch.
"Sorry we thought you were still on her side," said Jessika. "Not even the last fated mates were on her side and when they tried to take her down they were killed by your crossfire," I said through gritted teeth. Jessika backed away from me when I felt anger rise. I can tell my pregnant mood swings were affecting me as much. That was until I snapped to why. Jessika stood back from me and I looked up at her. I tilted my head eyeing her up and down.
"Why can't I sense you exactly?" I asked her. "What," she said. "Why?" I said, narrowing my eyes on her. She backed away again. I watched her feet stand in position. I gave her a death glare. "Are you going to tell me the truth?" I asked her. "What are you talking about?" she asked me. "You are hiding something from me," I said. She looked at me with a hint of fear. "I have had enough enemies and traitors to know a look of a lair," I said, narrowing closer towards her.
"How come I can stand with you beside me?" I asked. "I am a half Druid and we have met before," she said. I stopped in my tracks. I was thinking for a long time and I had never met her before. Not even on the island. "You never saw me but I was there," she said, smiling at me. I quickly punched her in the jaw and she fell on the floor in front of me. She spat out blood as she looked up at me. She whipped with her hand as she smiled up at me.
"I was the person who knocked you out when your stepmother, Emily, and Noah were cheating on you that day," said Jessika. "That was my fucking wedding day," I said roaring at her. That was the last day I saw my father. "I knew you never sensed me but that's why I wanted you dead sooner of course I thought you were working for Lisette and I apologize," said Jessika. I knew no matter how much I hated her I needed that copper blade. I was going to take it.
"How did you know about me and Ryker?" I asked her. "I knew about you because somebody killed your mother thinking it was her," said Jessika, confused. "What?" I asked her. "You didn't know about that?" she asked me. I shook my head not wanting her to elaborate. "Well I don't know the full story but your mother was targeted and killed by the demon flight and whispers were going around that she was a dragon mate but it was all a lie to kill her," said Jessika.
I remember Ryker said they kidnapped her and he never even saw her before she was dead. It was just a kidnap mission to bargain. The Demon Flight wanted war with the Black Sun Flight, my home flight. "I mean we soon got involved after we had a tip but I always thought it was just some dragon war and getting rid of an heir, the Demon flight lord," said Jessika. She looked at me and continued. "When we finally listened I knocked you out and Ryker was too," she said.
"I wanted you guys killed in the dungeon but someone paid more to have you skinned alive for pure pleasure and getting extra paid to you have you both," said Jessika. I looked at her confused. Who could have wanted all of this? Too many things lined up at the right time and for Jessika to not know about it except getting a tip was questioning. "Lisette," I said aloud. "She made us all go in a circle and blame each other," I said, connecting it more.
"Of course, she planned this," said Jessika. We both stayed silent thinking to ourselves. It was possible. Once we had thought of everything we looked at each other. I put my hand on my stomach as Jessika scratched her arm. "I'm sorry I punched you," I said. "I'm sorry too," she said to me. We both nodded our heads in respect and understanding. Maybe in this life, we could have been friends if we didn't have Lisette controlling everything.
"Now where is that copper blade?" I said. Jessika looked at me, unable to talk. "I'm going to need you and that blade to defeat her," I said. She looked at me wondering why I wanted her along for the adventure. "I'm a pregnant dragon and I can't touch copper," I said. "Well follow me and I will take you to the ultimate Druid weapon to put Lisette down," said Jessika.
