They don't return for the next few weeks. Maybe they're finally trying new things or something, I don't know but change is good. I just hope they're doing well. I don't see Soumil near our area or our college. So, I didn't have anything to say to Sohini. It's a rather lazy day, the restaurant is mostly empty if not for a very few customers, mostly regulars here for the takeout.

I sit by myself listening to the Neighbourhood songs when Sohini comes in, heading for her usual table. She looks a bit different, her hair rather short, in a wolf cut curtaining her face. Her gowns replaced tank tops with torn jeans. She even added a leather jacket. I could almost sense that it could be the aftereffect of a certain phase.

We both wait for Soumil to come in late but she only waves me over. “You aren't going to take my order?”

“Of course, of course,” I walked towards her. “The usual, right? I thought we'd wait for Soumil to come. I swear this boy is always late-”

Tears well in her eyes and I cluck my teeth. I understand it then before she says it. Her voice is barely above a whisper as she says, “We broke up.”

“I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have.” I sigh. “I'm sorry.”

She smiles with the unshed tears in her eyes, “That's alright. I came over because I missed the cheesecake.”

“One blueberry cheesecake coming right up for our pretty Sohini,” She smiles her pretty smile at that, wiping at her tears.

The pretty lilac kite with white hearts seems to have fallen down and taken out to the trash, I smiled sadly as I looked over my shoulder.

THE END
