Warning: Long asf

hi second warning from future chroma since I actually developed this canon a long long long time ago, this isn't canon anymore. ignore it. I will edit it when I get the chance.

hi, third warning from future chroma! this is now updated, thank you :)

sorry guys

Most countries have powers, inherited from their parents or given their own. Their powers either help with a disability or just correspond with something about them, their weather, their culture, etc. There are also sub-powers; smaller, less powerful abilities that countries have, for example, changing the color of stuff.

The more powerful a country is, the more power they have. Inheriting powers from their parents is another way. It's not guaranteed that the child will inherit all or at least one of their parent's powers, however. If there are 2 countryhuman parents, which there rarely are, the child will inherit all powers or if there are multiple children, the powers will get split between them. The thing is, the more powers a country has, the higher chance they have of dying before 100, as they sometimes can't handle it. Random thing, countries with wings (I think I explained this HC already but I'm too lazy to check.) get them through their parents or because of their flag crest/flag.

If the country has less than 2 countryhuman parents (which most of them do, human + ch fusion, etc.), most likely the country will get their own powers instead of inheriting from their parent. Since one of their parents was not born with powers, it's less likely that their powers come from the one parent that happens to have powers.

Countries usually start developing all their supernatural abilities (human forms, powers) at around (country years) ages 8-10. The latest case was a country getting their powers at age 15, but no later than that has been recorded. In the first few months - year that the country has their powers and human forms, they will be hard to control, and the powers + transforming can or will happen randomly. It takes them a few more months - another year to properly learn how to control them.

Even after they learn how to control their powers, some countries have to end up using their powers less. How much the countries can use their powers depends on their status as a country--for example, the USA, who's extremely powerful in the world of countries, can use his power more nonchalantly, as it won't drain him of his energy, and he can last for longer periods of time than many other countries when using his powers because of his status. Smaller countries, for example, Bhutan, have to use their power sparingly because of their status. This isn't to say that some countries are less important--but they're simply less powerful, and don't have the status that allows them to use their powers.

Some examples of powers, KOH has a shield power, bc of her crest :3 ((it's in the shape of a shield. so. also I can just see her having a combat related power.

AE + Prussia both got powers involving mind shit. AE got telepathy and sub-power healing, while Pruss inherited HRE's power, which is precognition (seeing into the future). Fun fact that Pruss and HRE are sometimes called seers (literally someone who can use magical abilities to see into the future) because of this.

This applies to all the countries, but, when Austria-Hungary uses a lot of his power, he tends to revert back to his 'original' or more powerful form. The countries' original forms are a lot... more terrifying, to say the least, which is why they, at all times, stay in their modified forms that are much more presentable. The original form tends to only come out when they snap at someone, or use a lot of power, like in this example. A-H's original form consists of a second set of wings, another pair of arms, and also another pair of eyes. Sometimes, he splits into two different entities, which most countries have guessed most likely represent Austria and Hungary. These two entities, which UN has nicknamed A-2 and H-2 respectively, are separate from modern-day Austria and Hungary, somehow. A-2 has a pair of wings, but it's only on the right (from his perspective) side of his body. Same for H-2, but it's only on the left (from his perspective) side of his body. The organizations do have original forms.

Also, for example, the Reich twins (GE + RT), their original forms are almost equivalent to fucking eldritch gods. Like. It's just a huge mass of shadow, tentacles, red eyes, sharp teeth, no one can really tell where their head is and their leg ends, stuff like that.

Cities, towns, government organizations, regions, etc. do not have powers. They do still have enhanced health/regeneration and all that, but don't have any supernatural abilities.

Now, for more random power headcanons;

-The Russians can control ice and/or fire. Most of them have one or the other, but some rare cases (USSR) can control both, although since he controls both, compared to a country who only controls ice, it's significantly weaker in terms of power

-Light magic is only consistently present in the French family, the Italian family, and the English family. and also in some SEA (south-east asia) families.

-Dark magic (or called 'demonic' magic by Vatican) is only consistently present in the German family.

-No one (other than the Germans/Austrians) really knows if Reichtangle is an entity or an actual country. He's sort of considered a different species.

-Since Vatican is considered a part of the Italians in my AU, he has light magic (holy magic real)

-America had to keep his hair short for a long time because whenever he would use his (fire) powers his hair would get in the way and almost get burned off

-I did not mention this above, but since dead countries are dead, they have infinite energy to use their powers. They technically aren't placed anywhere on the status chart of the countries (bc they're dead.) so, they just have unlimited energy ig

-Sometimes, powers require specific accessories to work. For example, my baby Macau, is known for gambling and casinos. He has a special deck of cards that is made up only of aces (If I fuck up with the card stuff please call me out, I'm not good with this shit). He carries it around with him, and each different ace card (ace of spades, ace of diamonds) is basically like a different ability.
