Chapter 1

THIRD PERSON

In the dimly lit confines of a luxurious mansion, members of the nine powerful groups gathered for their regular meeting, the air thick with the scent of cigars and the faint aroma of sake. Seated around a polished mahogany table, adorned with intricate carvings of dragons and cherry blossoms, they exchanged jovial banter, their laughter mingling with the clink of glasses.

Along the table, sat each leader of their corresponding groups and behind them was a few members of their own factions.

First was the Iemura family led by Iemura Tatsumi. They oversee the region and are the organization's vicious, clever faction. They were once known as a very promising group who defended the weak but abruptly began dealing drugs.

Then there was the Fujimoro group led by Tatsuo Fujimoro. They serve as the group's dark cleaners. They remove any traces of the group's criminal activity.

Next was the Minamoto group led by Ryukai Minamoto. They are made up of psychotic assassins. It is their responsibility to get rid of anyone who is impeding the organization.

Then there's the Ueno group led by Ryuhei Ueno. They have the most money and their leader serves as the group's treasurer. They oversee the company's financial operations.

The Katsunari group was led by Ryuichiro Katsunari and is composed of brutal martial artists and are ruthless when it comes to fighting.

The Zenshin family was led by Yoshitatsu Zenshin which have the most members and the power to rival the Kurosaki family. They have connections to politicians and a significant impact on them, together with the Kurosaki family, which is led by Kimitatsu Kurosaki, the alleged candidate for the position of organization's next leader.

Then there was the Kamizono family led by Tatsuomi Kamizono. They mostly are known for their use of firearms when dealing with their enemies.

And at the head of the table sat Ryushin Kuze, the head of the Kuze family and head of the Kuryu group, his steely gaze surveying his subordinates with a mixture of authority and amusement. With a hearty laugh, he raised his glass in a toast, the golden liquid shimmering in the soft glow of the chandeliers above.

"To our continued success!" he declared, his voice booming with confidence.

And all together, they made up the nine dragons.

But besides the official members there were two unofficial subsidiaries or minor groups of Kuryu.

First was the Hyuga family led by 3 of the 4 brothers of the same family name, Naoto, Naoki and Norizo Hyuga. They're a small group, owning a few local bars and gambling rings in the Southwestern parts of the city. They were considered as the thugs of Kuryu, not much calculating and planning goes into their endeavors, but they threw quite the parties and ragers.

And at the far corner of the room, dressed in opulent black and gold was the Kaneshiro family led by Kaneshiro Ren, beside him was his successor and son Haruki. Even without Kuryu's association, they were the wealthiest group, successful in maintaining and running the biggest modeling agency in Japan. Unusual business for a mafia group but it was founded by Ren's late wife, Kyoko. The company is now being run by Haruki's wife, Ayano.

As for their role in Kuryu, they oversee every single plan approved by Ryushin Kuze himself, in other words, they are the most trusted and basically the second in command despite their unofficial role in the group.
