"Bert can I ask you something?" Ernie shook Bert trying to wake him up, it's 3 am! Bert tried to ignore him but still.

"Ernie! It's 3 am! Please go to bed" Bert yelled and covered his head using his pillow, it's makes him mad if you disturb his peaceful sleep. Ernie gulped but shook him again.

"Please?"

"Ernie?! Ughh please just ask me that in the morning"

"Do you love me, Bert?"

"Wha- of course I do! Now go to sleep, Ernie"

"Really?"

"Yes really! Now go to sleep and stop bothering me" Bert said and covered his face using his blanket, he heard Ernie sniffed.

"I just wanna make sure... Sorry" Ernie went to his bed. Bert sat up and saw Ernie is facing away from him. Bert stood up and sat on his bed.

"Are you okay, Ernie?" Bert asked as he pats Ernie's head, he can still hear him sniffling and he also wipes his eyes "You already know that I always love you, no need to overthink, honey"

"Alright..." Ernie replied, Bert hugged him tightly. He thought Ernie would wake him up just to ask stupid questions, but this time, he's asking seriously. Bert fell asleep hugging ernie.

Bert looked around of the place. It's kinda school hallway! He walked around not until he heard a voice from the bathroom, Bert leaned on the wall and tries to listen.

"Damn, you're already highschool student and you're still carrying that rubber duck? What are you? A toddler?!" A guy from the bathroom said with some chuckles from the others.

"Grow up, Ernie" Bert eyes widen when he heard Ernie's name, he didn't think twice and entered the bathroom. Bert was surprised that none of them felt he entered or even see him. His eyes landed down to Ernie who's sitting on the floor while there's three students infront of him. Ernie has some purple marks on his face and a blood side of his lips.

"But... He's my friend" Ernie said, one of them grabbed him by his collar, why does Ernie doesn't defend himself!?

"Are you serious?! You're crazy" He said and threw Ernie on the wall as they laugh together, Bert got mad and tried to hit then, but he just went through "You're being everyone favorite because of your special disorder! You should be in the hospital"

"But I'm normal, I just... That's who I am" Ernie admitted, they just laugh.

"Let's leave him guys for today, let's break his bones so he'll stay in the hospital for the next day" one of them said, before they leave one of them kicks Ernie's knee and walk out. Bert kneeled down and tries to hug him, but he just went through.

"Just because I'm weak... They're stepping on me..." Ernie stood up and washed his hand. He also washed his face. Bert just stared at him. He noticed that Ernie's eyes starts to get watery but he's trying to stop his tears from falling.

"Ernie..." After Ernie finished cleaning himself, he walk away.

Bert woke up and rubs his eyes.

"A dream?!" Bert thought, he looks between his arms, there's Ernie sleeping peacefully, snuggling on his chest. Bert smiled and hugged him tightly.

"I promise, no one can hurt you ever again, I love you" Bert whispered to ernie and kissed his forehead.
