It could be said that it was a purely platonic matter between you and Peter, but really, comfort food has had a big influence on your friendship ever since the age of eight. Good food was always the first port of call.

Simply envious of Peter's mere existence, Flash broke Peter's camera one day way back in middle school in a fit of rage--that's when you took the issue into your own hands, and took your best friend to get an ice-cream. From then on, you started to save money for a new camera for him, gifting it to Peter on his fifteenth birthday. No doubt, the smile on his face was way par alluring.

You and Peter always had each other's back along with good food. Had a fight? There's tacos. Had a bad day at school? There's apple pie. Got a bad score on a test? There's always pizza and that chocolate brownie which he loved the most. Peter would do anything for you because you were his best friend. But a best friend was all you were to the oblivious boy.

Oblivious because somewhere along the way, you had developed feelings for him and the thousands of freckles that covered all the way from his cheeks to the bridge of his nose. Feelings so strong that couldn't exactly be deemed as ones you'd have for a 'friend'. It wasn't the case that you developed these feelings overnight, rather, you've had a strong connection with the brunette since you were a child. Having a crush on your best friend at nine years of age is not a big deal but if those feelings continue to grow stronger and stronger? There was more trouble in that than you had ever realised.

"Wow, you look very enthused today, don't you?" You chuckled, elbowing Peter's side the second you reached near their lockers. Ned was standing by your locker, sheet on his knee as he rushed to finish his homework. Yet, Peter was busy leaning his head against the small metal door when you joined both the boys.

Glancing at you sideways, Peter mumbled, "Hey, (Y/n)." It was then when you noticed how exhausted he looked─dark rims under his eyes, lip slightly swollen. Just by the sight of him, you estimated a consequence of his patrol, and the veins in his eyes turned red from the severe lack of sleep.

"Are you okay, Pete?" The brunette just nodded at your question but you knew better than what he was letting you on.

The day passed pretty slowly for Peter, he was all around the place and all in his head at the same time, it drove you extremely worried to see him like this. It was already hard enough for him to get a proper sleep after the spider bite. All the heightened senses combined messed up his daily routine but he kept on going. Obviously, you kept him in check of how proud you were of him for doing this all on his own.

"You're in dire need of sleep." You walked beside Peter on the sidewalk. He was adamant on going straight to his apartment after school by himself but you insisted on accompanying him all the way to the door, passing the boy over to his aunt before deciding your work here was done. The middle-aged woman passed you a grateful smile muttering a 'thank you' to which you gave her a wide smile, being more than assured that the stubborn teenager would get some rest.

You considered yourself a walking dead man as you rushed through the pages of your notes, deciding to prep for next week's test earlier but you were already feeling like giving up. Committing to the comfort of your spotify playlist felt like a better thing to do but before you could another idea popped in your head, making you spring up from your study chair. Pulling on your jacket, you made your way out of your apartment, into the pleasant night air.
