Three weeks had passed since the rumors about you and Oikawa began circulating through the school. Among all the gossip, the most popular one was the rumor that you had a crush on Oikawa. Unfortunately, this only fueled the ship between the two of you, and you despised it.
As you walked down the school hallway with your best friend Mitsuki, heading to class, you finally broke the silence.
"Mitsuki, are you still annoyed with me?" you asked, your voice barely audible.
"Well, yes! I've already told you to stop creating rumors and to quit fighting with Oikawa," Mitsuki replied sternly.
"I'm sorry, Mitsuki. But let's look on the bright side. It's not that bad," you said, trying to maintain a positive outlook.
"So you're saying that you being shipped with Oikawa isn't that bad?" Mitsuki rolled her eyes.
"Mitsuki, I truly apologize," you said again. Just then, the crackling sound of the school speaker interrupted your conversation, making you wince slightly.
"Y/n L/n and Mitsuki Hoshimoto, please report to the principal's office immediately." The announcement echoed through the hallway, leaving you both wondering what awaited you there.
Upon arriving at the principal's office, you pushed the door open and saw the principal sitting in her chair with her back to you and Mitsuki.
Your best friend, Mitsuki, who was standing next to you, glanced at you and cleared her throat before speaking. "Excuse me..."
"You two are in big trouble..." the principal said, spinning around on her seat with an irritated look on her face.
Thoughts immediately rushed through your mind. Was this about the rumor? But which one? What if it was all of them? And why was Mitsuki called here too?
"Wait, Ma'am, I can explain. It was my fault. Mitsuki has nothing to do with this," you began apologizing before the principal cut you off with a raised brow.
"Whoa, now just stop right there. Why do you think I called you two here?" the principal asked, pushing her glasses back.
"It's obviously because I want you two to write an article about the upcoming annual sports day festival, " the principal stated, picking up a small flyer for the school sports day and handing it to you.
"Oh." Both you and Mitsuki said at the same time, looking at each other with relief to know that you were called for this and not because of the rumor.
"Oh?" the principal repeated your and Mitsuki's words with disbelief.
As the principal leaned back in her chair, she fixed her gaze on both you and Mitsuki. "Listen carefully," she said, her tone stern. "The school's newspaper club has a responsibility to cover the upcoming annual sports day event. We need articles, interviews, and captivating stories to promote the event."
You exchanged a glance with Mitsuki. She raised an eyebrow, silently urging you to speak up. You took a deep breath and addressed the principal. "Understood, Ma'am. We'll do our best to cover the sports day thoroughly."
Mitsuki nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. We'll make sure to highlight all the exciting events, the athletes, and the team spirit."
The principal leaned forward, her expression softening slightly. "Good. Remember, this is an opportunity for you both to showcase your writing skills. And who knows? Maybe you'll uncover some interesting stories along the way."
As you left the office, Mitsuki whispered, "Well, it looks like we're in for a busy time. But at least it's not about the rumor!"
You chuckled. "True. Let's gather the rest of the newspaper club members and divide the tasks. We'll need to interview the athletes, capture action shots, and write engaging pieces."
