Anya POV

I took a deep breath as I got up off the grass and walked back inside. As soon as I entered the dining room. I saw my parents, Beta Micheal and Beta Emily, as well as Luna Delilah or Lilah as we call her, Alpha Isaac, and their son William.

William was of age to become alpha as he was 20 years old already. Most alphas hand down the role of alpha to their first-born son when they turn 18. Alpha Isaac, however, believes that William needs to find his mate before he can take over as alpha. As an alpha is at his strongest with his luna by his side.

He has been my best and only friend for as long as I can remember. I can't imagine my life without him.

He is quite handsome. With his ashy blonde, short, wavy hair, dark green eyes, and muscular body. He was probably around six foot five seeing that I was five foot ten, he was taller than me but not by that much.

He always has girls following him around or making up any excuse just to talk to him. At least that's what he tells me.

"Anya it's good to see you! I'm so excited to start planning your birthday party!" Lilah said with so much excitement.

"My mother told me all about how I would finally meet the pack at my party Saturday! I can't wait!" I said with just as much excitement in my voice as Lilah gave me a giant hug.

"Is that what we have to talk about?" I asked carefully but the smile never left my face.

"It is part of what we have to discuss with you but not the only thing we need to talk about." Isaac replied giving me a side hug with a happy but worried look on his face.

Before I could reply William came up behind me and gave me a big bear hug picking me up off my feet. "It's good to see you squirt!" That was William's nickname for me since I'm shorter than him.

"Put me down! I'm not that much smaller than you!" I giggle shouted at him. I tried to say it with a serious tone but I couldn't keep my laughter and smile inside.

"Okay, okay but only because I want to know what this so serious conversation is all about" William said as he put me to my feet.

"You don't know what this is about either?" I questioned him.

"Not a clue." He replied nonchalantly

"Well let's all go have a seat at the table and we can finally get around to telling you both." My mother said with a worried but serious look on her face.

We all took a seat at the dining room table. My father sat at the head of the table. My mother to his right and myself to the left of my father. The alpha sat at the other end of the table with the luna to his left, beside my mother, and William to his right, beside of me.

After everyone settled into their seats, my mother began "Anya as you know from our conversation this morning that we need to discuss some things with you. We have already gone over that you will be introduced to the pack on your 18th birthday this Saturday as well as you will be going to this year's mate ball in two weeks.... but there is another thing we must tell you."

She took a deep breath and a drink of water before continuing. "Anya, your father and I aren't your biological parents."

I was shocked. I couldn't speak. All I could wonder was why did they keep this from me my entire life. Where were my biological parents? Before I could ask or say anything, my father spoke up.

"When you were two weeks old you were left at the alpha's doorstep with a note that said your name and your date of birth." He paused for a moment as if to let what he just said sink into my head.

I looked back up at him and then at my mother as if I needed her to verify what my father had just said. She nodded her head as if she understood what I was thinking.

I looked around at everyone else sitting at the table. The alpha and luna looked like they were worried about what I might be thinking. As for William he looked just as shocked as me.

I looked back at my father encouraging him to continue but it was Lila who spoke next.

"Also, on the note was something that made us have to keep you hidden all this time. Anya, you are a special type of werewolf. You are what they call "The Chosen". On your 18th birthday not only will you shift for the first time and be able to sense your mate, but you will also develop some type of power." Her face was as serious as serious gets. Not an inch of doubt on her face.

"Wait, so I'm some type of werewolf witch? How do you know it's true? What if whoever left me on your doorstep just added that to make sure you wouldn't put me in some orphanage?" I asked shocked and confused.

Alpha Isaac responded quickly to my questions. "Kind of. The reason we know it's true is because of the crescent moon birthmark behind your right ear. It's the mark of the chosen ones. We also did extensive research on them. On you. You are in fact one of them and on your 18th birthday when you receive your special power, it will be confirmed."

I thought about it for a minute and then I had a thought, but I didn't get a chance to ask as William asked for me.

"Did you ever find Anya's biological parents? What happened to them? Why did they abandon her at our doorstep?" He said with worried anger in his voice.

My eyes going from person to person waiting for someone to answer. Finally, my mother looked at me with sympathy in her eyes.

"We did find them."
