Chapter 3

"Do we have our swim test or not?" Every year, after registration we have our swim test. We swim in a lake... a gross lake. People always pee in it, some spots are cold and some spots are cold. But this year it was raining... are we going to take it or not? Our councilor Susanne came in our room and told us we definitely were taking the swim test. I really didn't want to take the swim test because it's so embarrassing, people watching you swim... and possibly fail epically. Any way me and my roommates changed into our bathing suits and started walking down to the lake... We were hoping we were the last ones down there, we didn't want anyone to watch us. We just happened to be... the first ones there, and right behind us were the boys. There was one boy in particular that stood out, he was James. Last year James was my best friend at camp and all the girls wanted to date him. Him and Brittany dated for a while. I was deciding if I should go talk to him or not... I finally got the courage because he was talking to Tom, Tom used to be my best friend up until 2nd grade I don't really know what happened, we just kind of drifted apart. Oh well, but I walked over just before my friends took their tests. "Hey guys!" Tom and I talked for awhile... but James didn't even look at me, I was really confused. It was almost my turn to take the test so I said bye to Tom and got back in line with Tammy and Amber. Tammy went before me and got a green bracelet. There are three different colored bracelets you can get the lowest one is "red" where you can't swim, the middle one is "yellow" where you can swim I'm the shallow end of the lake and do the boats and the water trampoline, the highest one is "green" where you can do anything. I've gotten green the past two years I've went to camp, so I wasn't too nervous. Finally it was my turn... I swam down treaded water for 30 seconds and swam back. Thank goodness I got a green!
