Rays pov

I heard an annoying beeping noise right next to my face. "Euuuuuorrrrgh..." I shut off my alarm with a noise of displeasure. It was 6:00. Getting up this early just for school is a crime against teenagers.

I got out of bed and brushed my teeth in the bathroom. My hair was a mess, half of it pressed against the side of my head I slept on and the other half extremely poofy. I brushed it out, and pushed it over my left eye. I'll get called emo for that, but my friends say I look cool. Sure that's two people, but I value them more than random classmates.

I finished getting ready, ate breakfast(coco puffs), and walked out the door. I live near the highschool, so I walk there. When I reached parking lot I saw a familiar group of people chatting. Shit. I put my head down and walked faster. Then I heard a chorus of laughter.

"Look, it's the emo kid"

"Hi Rayyyyy"

They laughed again. Just gotta get inside. I ignored them and walked in. I went through a few mind-numbing classes before lunch came. Outside of the cafeteria, I saw Emma and Norman talking to eachother, and greeted them.

"Hi guys."

Norman responded, "Ray, are you alright? You look... mad."

"Just peachy."

Norman stared at me, "...ok."

The three of us ate lunch together outside, because Norman gets overwhelmed by the loud noises of the cafeteria. We talked about typical things: annoying classmates, assignments we had, you know. I realized that I was staring at Norman. His eyes were so...wait why am I staring at him that's weird. I looked down, my face heating up.

"Ray? Ray?" Emma said, waving her hand in my face.

"Huh?"

"I asked you what your favorite Tortured Poets Department song was, but you, like, totally spaced out."

"Oh, er, sorry," I responded. Shit, I hope Norman didn't notice I was looking at him. Wait, why would that be a problem, I'm not crushing on him or anything. Right?? "I like 'I can do it with a broken heart' a lot."

Emma nodded, accepting my answer, "that one's good."

Norman smiled. He looks cute when he smiles. Fuck.

The bell rang, so we had to go back in for classes. Walking to my next period, I was looking at the ground. I couldn't get the image of Norman out of my head. He was just-

"Ah!" I yelped.

I had crashed into someone. I looked up and started to say "sorry", but then I got my breath knocked out of me as I was shoved back to the ground. Dammit, how'd I manage to to bump into Keith? That's sooo unlucky.

"Can't see because of that hair over your eye, emo boy?"

I huffed and picked myself off the ground.

"Oh, what's wrong, are you gonna cry? Can't you even talk?"

I kept walking, but Keith followed me, yapping about my flaws. Just fuck off, will you? He didn't, but he found his next class and took a different turn. Finally.

TIMESKIP TO END OF SCHOOL DAY

After the Keith dramatics, the school day was as boring as usual. I still couldn't get Norman out of my head. He was just soo... I don't know. I don't want to ruin our friendship or anything. ARRRGHHH. I don't LIKE this.
