I look around me and-
What?
Oh. Yeah, I didn't notice I had snuck into another alleyway. But this alleyway is.. Different?
It looks like there is a fake wall here, but why? Maybe to keep the Pasonia soldiers from finding out where this is but this wall is very obvious. It looks like a curtain of some sort so
I decide to take a peek behind it and what I see is just an abandoned warehouse. That's pretty normal, but why the fake wall?
Footsteps upstairs make my senses go wild. I see a crate to hide behind.
QUICKLY!
My brain is shouting so many things at me that it hurts. Whatever it is, it's definitely dangerous.
.......
"Who's there?"
A feminine voice calls out into the darkness. But this feminine voice wasn't high pitched like the higher class rich ladies's voices, this was a scared voice, almost on edge.
I slowly try to look at the figure, and who I saw didn't look as rough as they sounded. It was a girl about my age in all black clothing, and she looked decently pretty. I decide if anything happens, I can run.
I step out and she immediately looks at me.
"Hi."
She obviously doesn't know the type of world we live in where just saying that word could cost you your life.
"Um hi.. Who are you?"
The second these words came out of my mouth, I was surprised at myself.
"I'm Lilith. You?"
She was hesitant at first, but responded.
"Ash."
WHY AM I RESPONDING I DON'T KNOW HER!?
It's as if all my instincts have been put to a halt. What the he-
"Good to meet you Ash."
She says, cutting off my thoughts. When she smiles, something inside me feels safe with her. Like I can trust her.
Trusting someone in today's time is dangerous beyond comprehension, especially someone you just met a few seconds ago.
"Well Ash, it seems you are lost and frazzled too-"
"I can handle myself, Lilith."
"Oh- ok.. But being in this city on your own is dangerous within itself."
"There are a lot of things about this city you don't know."
"I do know that we are in a war, being Nelthoran is extremely dangerous, and kids like us can't survive long on their own. Am I right?"
"Are you Nelthoran?"
"Are you? Ash?"
....
I don't respond. She speaks anyway.
"No. But I do come from a neighboring kingdom. And what Pasonia does to Nelthorans is horrible, so don't feel threatened."
My brain is exploding with questions. How can a person who is not Pasonin and supports Nelthorans survive this long at our age? Well, I guess I've made it this far, but she isn't as cautious as me as it seems.
I don't even have time to think another thought before sirens are blaring through my ears and piercing my eardrums.
"The unnamed nation." We say in unison.
"We have to get out of the city."
"But Ash, if we leave, where will we go?"
"It's better than sticking around here and finding out what will happen if we DON'T leave."
She runs up the stairs and grabs a bag. She must have sensed the confusion in my head because she immediately says, "Food supply."
We shuffle out of the warehouse's back door, still cautious of the soldiers, but quick on our feet.
