Emerson POV

"Open your eyes Emerson or she'll kill them."

Carter's voice rang through my mind clear as day. Her words confused me and worried me. What did she mean by kill?

"What?" I said breathless as I kept my eyes closed even though I could only hear Carter now.

"She's going to kill them if you don't stop her." She replied, my thoughts were all over the place. My anxiety raising as I panicked more.

"But Carter I-"

"She will calm you. I know it. Just open your eyes Emerson. Whatever or who ever is out there won't kill you nor hurt you. Now open your eyes." She said calmly to me.

I trust Carter more than anything but due to what I had heard I was scared. I felt as if I was scared to hear, see, and breathe all at once.

"Are you sure Carter?" I asked hesitant.

"I've never been more sure about something in my life. Now open them Emerson. You'll be ok." She said I nodded and breathed slowly.

"You got this." She said encouraging me making me nod again as I took one more breath before opening my eyes.

Slowly my surroundings came into view. They weren't around me anymore instead they were far from me.

One on the ground whimpering, another passed out on the floor, and the other getting beaten to a pulp it seemed.

The girl doing it was a vampire. Her eyes dark red and her fangs visible. She looked angry. Her black hair moving out of the way so I could finally see her face.

"Valencia.." I spoke my voice softly as I stared in shock my anxiety at an all time high.

She stopped looking frozen as if she was thinking. Thoughts came rushing through my mind was she going to attack me too?

"Valencia?" I spoke again hesitant to say anything else as her body slowly went back to normal. Eyes went back to the blue I remembered and her teeth no longer sharpe.

She turned to look at me her eyes meeting mine as a scent of roses filled my nose. My anxiety and worries gone within and instant. My heart beating normally now. Her blue eyes turned gentle as we stared at one another for what seemed like forever.

There's no way. I can't be.. I thought to myself as her scent seemed to surround my body like a blanket making itself known.

"But you are and you know it. We know it." Carter said calmly, speaking through our mind link as I stared at the vampire.

We both knew what this meant.

We were mates.
