Chapter One Nervous Breakdown
[ 1 x 01 — Extreme Aggressor ]

"THERE'S A SNAKE in my boot!" The movie screen displayed the movie 'Toy Story' brightly.

Billie Shepherd sat on the couch of her apartment with her son's, Christopher's, head in her lap. She gently brushed his hair as he snored.

She loved any time she got to spend with him. Even if he'd choose the movie only to fall asleep during it, she could tell that he had always tried his hardest to stay up.

Billie appreciated his efforts because she was always up and leaving due to being in the B. A. U. and Chris's father, Finn, had him for the other half of the month so she always made sure to give Chris 100% of her attention whenever she could.

Whenever she had to leave while Chris was with her, it broke her heart. Her eight— almost nine— year old always said he understood, that he was okay with it, and their relationship was always a good one but Billie still couldn't help but feel like she was letting him down every time she had to leave.

And Billie had worked her ass off to get into the B. A. U. She graduated at 15, went to college, transferred, gave birth to Chris while in school and used a lot of her time being pregnant studying, made a good reputation for herself in school and from the moment she began working as a detective up until she was in Children Crimes, and she had finally gotten a spot in the B. A. U.

Even though all her older sisters and brother had become something within the medical field, she always had herself set on being what she was now. Someone who saved people from horrific experiences she faced.

Despite all the traumatic, emotional, and life changing experiences that she had gone through, she had used it to her advantage. She used it to strengthen herself and to make herself the person she was now.

Her phone then rang causing Chris to stir awake. Billie picked her phone up to see the B. A. U. was calling her.

"Mom?" Chris whispers sleepily being woken by the ringtone.

Billie looks back down to Chris and sighs, "I'm so sorry, baby."

20 minutes later, Billie was dropping Chris back off at Finn's house.

"Shepherd."

Billie spun around to see it was Derek Morgan and Aaron Hotchner. She had joined the B. A. U. just a few months after Derek did and she had grown to become friends with them.

"Hi," she greeted Morgan and Hotch.

"Reid's already headed inside. Have you already looked over the case?" Hotch asks Billie.

"I have." Billie nods.

"Good. You guys ready to go to Seattle?"

"Yes, sir." Billie and Morgan both nod this time.

Hotch begins leading the two inside the building where Gideon was lecturing. Billie and Derek are just a step behind.

"Don't you got some brothers and sisters in Seattle?" Morgan queries Billie.

Billie looks at her phone for a split second before answering, "I've got one brother in Seattle." She looks to Morgan with squinted eyes. "Why are you asking?"
