Falling for her brooding bodyguard on her first solo royal tour was the last thing Annabelle Montgomery expected to do. Being the youngest daughter to the King and Queen of England, the spotlight's always on her, not wanting to fall in front of the...

Annabelle's pov
"Hey Em," I smile answering the Facetime while I finish up my makeup. Despite the fact I woke up with a slight headache and blisters on my heels I'm determined to have a good day. According to my schedule have a charity event around lunch but then my afternoon is free until a dinner party later this evening.
And to make this day even better my stylist picked out a surprisingly nice outfit for today, I would classify today's outfit as business casual. I'm wearing a pair of black jeans that are tighter around my thighs and a bit looser after my knees with a vintage Chanel corset top paired with a simple pearl necklace and black heels.

It's simple enough that it's not flashy but nice enough to show I put in effort, or at least tried to. With events like these, there are two main things you need to focus on according to my Father, the first being the photos you get taken of you doing good things and the second being the actual good deeds.
I'll let you guess which one he cares about more, personally, I would rather not be photographed and just work with charities because it's the right thing to do but I unfortunately don't make the rules.
But after this is all done, I'll have hopefully made Father happy and the people who put on the charity event. It'll be a win for both sides.
Then when I'm done making everyone else happy I get to go do whatever I wish until a later dinner party. While I brushed my teeth this morning I looked up fun things we can do here and I found quite a few good options so I was going to talk to Nathan and see if there's anything he wants to do while we're here-
"Annabelle," she says seriously drawing my attention back to the screen.
"What's up?" I ask hesitantly. She looks like she's going to tell me my dog just died, but I don't have a dog even though I often wish I did.
"Have you checked your phone yet?" she asks nervously.
"No? Not really yet anyway, why?" I question snatching my phone from where it was propped up on my mirror.
"Just don't worry, I'm sure there handling everything. In fact, it's probably going to be pulled any minute," she rambles on but I don't hear the rest of what she says, all I hear is my heartbeat thumping in my ear as I open the news app.
No.
Right there, slapped across the front cover of practically everything is a photo someone took of Nathan helping me down the stairs last night...or this morning? Whatever. The point is that the most scandal-worthy picture of me is now plastered across every magazine, newspaper and website in the world.
"Ugh," I groan dropping my phone and resting my head in the palms of my hand.
"Bella?" Emery's soft voice asks quietly.
"Yeah?" I mumble trying to hold in tears.
"It's going to be ok." she says firmly, "Remember when those photos of me and Grey got out a few years ago? I thought the world was ending, but look at us now, everything worked out. I'm sure everyone will have forgotten all about it in a week," she reassured.
"I doubt it," I sigh negatively. A heavy knock on the door Interrupts me, "Someone's at the door," I tell Em but I make no move to stand up, she looks at me with sad eyes.
"Don't you want to see who it is?" she asks softly like she's trying to be gentle as if at any moment I'll shatter into a thousand pieces before her.
"Not really, It's probably just the stylist dropping off tonights outfit," I mumble.
"Annabelle," Nathan yells, the sound of his voice travelling through the door, "I'm coming in," he adds followed by a click of the door unlocking and heavy footsteps.
"Call me later," Emery says before ending the call. Taking a deep breath I gather up all the remaining pieces of my positivity and I duck tape them back together before exiting my room. Nathan rounds the corner and stops when he sees me.
"So...I'm guessing you've seen the pictures," I say taking an educated guess and by the way his eyebrows scruch together and eyes narrow I'd say I was pretty spot on.
"The fuckers must have been camped out all night, I'm sorry I should-," he starts but I interrupt him. The last thing I want is for him to think this was his fault when in reality it was no one's fault but my own. I knew the risks and I ignored them.
"You have nothing to be sorry for, " I state, "It-," This time I'm the one being interrupted but by the buzzing phone in my hand. Glancing at my phone my heart stops when I see the caller ID, my Father.
I had forgotten about him. He's going to kill me, like actually, this is officially my last day on this planet. Wow, there are so many things I wanted to do in life and now I can't do any of them.
"Breath Angel," Nathan's deep voice and the weight of his hand on my shoulder snap me out of my spiralling panic. Looking into his eyes I take a deep breath in before releasing it.
"I should probably answer it, huh," I whisper.
"Only if you want to," he replies and I almost laugh, no one outside of the family and maybe Greyson, Tom and Haley understand what it's like to be a part of this family and that's for the best. It keeps up the magic that way.
"I'll be back soon," he says turning around to leave as I click the answer on what I assume would have been the last ring.
I don't say hello and neither does he, instead all I hear is his heavy, angry breathing that sends shivers down my spine. After a few moments of silence I break it, "Father," I say barely above a whisper.
"What took you so long to answer?" he asks coldly.
"I was finishing up some work and I wasn't near my phone," I say lying out of my butt.
