As Axel plummeted through the air, he caught glimpses of his friends making graceful—or, in some cases, chaotic—landings below.
Ruby was first to slow her descent, firing a few shots from her rifle to stabilize herself. Then, with practiced ease, she morphed the weapon into its scythe form, hooking a sturdy tree branch. She swung down gracefully, her red cape fluttering as she glided toward the forest floor.
Weiss, poised and precise, drew her rapier, Myrtenaster, and activated her Semblance. A bright, icy glyph appeared beneath her feet, launching her forward in a controlled dive deeper into the forest.
Ren moved smoothly, his weapon Stormflower out, using it to steady himself as he slid along the rough surface of a nearby tree trunk. With a quick leap, he landed silently on a thick branch, crouching to absorb the impact before standing to observe his surroundings.
Meanwhile, Nora tumbled wildly through the air with her signature lack of restraint, a wide grin on her face. The forest rushed up toward her, but she showed no signs of concern.
Then there was Yang. Always one to make an entrance, she fired her Ember Celica gauntlets, using the kinetic recoil to launch herself forward. She bounded from one tree to the next, her golden hair streaming behind her as she spun through the air. With a final blast, she performed a flawless barrel roll and landed with a confident stance.
Yang: Nailed it.
Pyrrha descended with remarkable precision. Her shield, Akoúo̱, was up, deflecting branches as she hurtled downward. With a swift roll onto a sturdy branch, she transformed her weapon, Miló, into its rifle form, scanning the area ahead. Spotting Jaune falling haplessly and fast approaching the ground, Pyrrha acted in an instant. Switching Miló into javelin mode, she took careful aim and threw it with pinpoint accuracy, pinning Jaune's coat to a nearby tree just before he could crash.
Jaune: Thank you! he called, relief and gratitude evident in his voice.
Pyrrha: I'm sorry! she replied, waving sheepishly, though she couldn't hide a smile.
Axel watched all this in admiration, chuckling as Jaune dangled from the tree, saved by Pyrrha's quick reflexes. Then he remembered his own descent was rapidly approaching the ground.
Drawing his axe, he swung through the branches, cutting through the thick leaves and wood as he bounded from one branch to the next. With each leap, he twisted and spun, cleaving obstacles that blocked his way. As the ground neared, he swung his axe one final time, spinning to absorb the momentum, and skidded to a halt, landing on both feet with a proud grin.
Axel: That was awesome! He took a moment to look around at the damage he'd caused. Splintered trees, crumbling rocks, and slash marks littered the landscape. Yikes... If Ren were here, he'd give me a lecture for sure. He grinned despite himself. Oh well, no time to dwell on it—gotta keep moving.
