Everyone knows that Jupiter Highschool participates in a student trade with another country. An exchange student is living with them for around two weeks of January.
The D-day came and all the students were at school, waiting for the bus from the airport. They were all so excited. It finally arrived after a few hours of traffic.Cecily's penpal was named Serena. She was two years older than her and quite shy but yet a little talkative. The first evenings were light and joyful. A lot of activities were organised at school and even outside with the others. Students from the grade under them decided to organise a party with a part of everyone. Cecily wasn't really enthusiastic about it since they needed to wake up early the next day but Serena wanted to have a party here so she accepted. They headed to the party and had a better time than expected. It was a simple party but it was still organised with many things. They had a karaoke, a dance contest, a blind test. They cooked a lot of food and a typical quick dish from the country of exchange. They laughed a lot and drained all their energy.
The next day, two days before they flew back home, the teachers organised a day at the amusement park. Everyone was so tired, I mean the ones who got to party until late, but they were happy. Inside the park, they made little groups of six to eight and walked all around the area. By noon, they all went to a restaurant to eat and then went back to the attractions. You'll tell me, what's the point of counting those little details?
Well since the comeback of Shirley after Christmas, Cecily never really thought about her. She was there but she not in that "heartbreak" mood. She wasn't, until this day.
She was in a group of eight with Giselle, Serena, some other students, including Shirley. Don't ask how she arrived there, nobody knows; both girld just spent a big part of the afternoon together until the night. They made a lot of attractions side by side, laughing at everything, just like they were friends for years. They even posed together for a picture in front of the main decor of the park. Then, everyone got home, slept well and rested on the next day.
Honestly, Cecily was quite sceptical about how the day went but she did not really ask for explanations or even real questions. She was just happy that they could speak again without being embarrassed or else.On the last day with the penpals, the school organised a diner at a fancy restaurant. Cecily arrived first and waited for the other to come. While she's there, she felt a little weird; her stomach was thigh, her throat was dry and she felt away from the room. She had the feeling that her mind was dissociating from her body. A headache started to take place and she was burning under her shirt and her scarf. She concluded that she was catching a cold at this exact moment. It was literally the worst day to be sick. Her mom was near so it was a little easier to handle it until her friends arrived.
When she got the call from Giselle telling her that she arrived it was a miracle to her; she wasn't completely alone but she needed emotional support to go through the debut of sickness. In the hall of the restaurant, they joined Shirley and the others. There were free seats so they wanted to be in front of the buffet. Shirley and Cecily seated next to each other at the end of the table and Giselle on the side. It was a pretty joyful atmosphere, with little talks, laugh. But Cecily's headache was growing and it was harder by the time to fully understand the conversations. She was so sick that she wasn't able to eat at all, just sitting here with glossy eyes due to the tiredness.
-And this is how I slayed this exam! Finished Giselle
-Hum, what exam? You were talking about an exam?? asked Cecily, completely out of space
-Yes? I was talking about middle school. Are you okay? the other started to be worried
-Not really, I'm having a terrible headache, my stomach doesn't want to see any food enter it and my ears are about to go deaf. she explained
-Girl if you are not feeling well, call your mom so you can go to sleep, you definitely need to rest. Shirley spoke while making eye contact, worry in her eyes.
-Yeah I know but Serena is having a good time, it's her last day here I don't want to ruin it. She's leaving tomorrow morning. she complained with a pout
-Hm.. You need to be refreshed for tomorrow morning, there's a lot of activities to close the trip. reminded Shirley
-If you are feeling like you're about to pass out tell us okay? added Giselle
-Okay..
And the diner went on until 10pm when she couldn't even stand on her legs. She said to Serena what was going on and called her mom to return home.
The next morning she felt even more terrible. She insisted on going to this last activity. Spending the maximum of time with them was essential. The sickness felt a little less intense with all the fun they had but came back at the end, around 11am. Cecily couldn't stay awake any longer. With a big heart, she said goodbye to everyone before going home and sleep, skipping the rest of her classes.
When she woke up from her nap, it was around 6pm, which means that the foreign students were already at the airport, about to enter the plane. She took her phone and went to the group chat where everyone sent goodbye messages and videos of the departure. She felt so sad that she cried again. She immediately sent a message to Serena, to wish her a good flight and to text her for anything. And she went back to sleep, the headache and the tiredness kicking back in.
